Two trips to Florida in a year, Andrew thought he was dreaming. He had never been outside of Seattle or the city where The Man lived, so he was desperate to go somewhere fun, somewhere warm. He thought the drives were more enjoyable than the vacations themselves, only because it was fourteen hours of driving and flying all over the northeastern and southeastern parts of the country. His camera constantly recorded through car karaoke sessions, gas station stops, hotel stays, the rental home, and the many different locations they went while in Florida. It was a week and a half, a house with a pool, a beachfront access gate, and a great view of the skyscrapers and the ocean beyond them. The two men weren't alone, as a friend tagged along, but three made the house seem a little more busy. The Man was always up at the crack of dawn to do work while Andrew slept in, making up for the strange sense of jet lag he felt. There were way too many sleepless nights, screaming, tossing and turning. They made up for that with nightly beach walks, expensive dinners, and nights when their tag-along friend got a sugar high from the overly sweet cherry passion fruit juice the Man drank every morning for breakfast. A birthday was also enjoyed, and that day the trio headed for another home away from home in Florida, living the high life once more at the house of the Man's rich Aunt and Uncle. Andrew couldn't help but feel truly grateful for the second chance he had been given at life, and how much he'd gotten to see with the people he loved most. From fancy restaurants to an old shopping plaza to midnight show binging, Florida was a dream for Andrew. He'd only wished it had been warm enough for him to swim, just to put his full-body watersuit on and not go past his knees in the water, for that was his idea of swimming. When they had to leave, they took an expensive plane ride in business class, flying home in what could be considered style. Andrew just didn't know why all this fancy stuff was for HIM. How did HE get this this lucky, this special? He looked over at the Man's friend, who was reading a book on time travel with his modernized earbuds in, then at the Man who was doodling a scene from his favorite show, Billy Joel blaring out of his ancient Walkman and twisted up headphones. They looked content, normal, like all this royal treatment was normal and expected. It seems Andrew just preferred that whatever trip he was on, his friends were really the part that made the journey feel worthwhile, not the amenities he was given. In the end, he had gotten exactly what he wanted. Of course, he was all on board for another Florida trip the next year, including the rich benefits it came with.
