Frozen (sonic version)

Chapter 13

Amy continued to walk through the swirling storm of ash. Struggling to stand as the heat clouded her judgment. "Shadow?" she cried.

Shadow tried peering through all the ash, wondering where his true love was. "AMY!" he shouted, running through the storm.

Meanwhile, Blaze was alone, trying to look through her storm. She turned around briefly only to see Sonic coming up to her. "Blaze! You can't run from this!" he shouted. Hesitantly, Blaze stopped to turn around, still fearful of him. "Just take care of my sister!" she begged. "Your sister? She returned from the mountain weak and boiling! She said you hardened her heart!" Sonic cried out. "No..." Blaze gasped, realizing what she had done. "I tried to save her but it was too late! Her skin was fire crystal! Her hair turned black!" he said, lying to her face as she grieved.

"Your sister is dead! Because of you!" Sonic added coldly. Blaze stood there for a minute, taking it all in. The grief overwhelmed her so much she started to fall back. At last her knees hit the ground, all the ash and fire disperse, everything becoming visible once more. Those of the court were now able to see everything that was happening.

Amy and Shadow, however, stood directly in front of each other, able to see her. Amy gasped as she sweated in place. "S-Shadow!" she said softly. Shadow stood there for a moment before running towards her. "Amy!" he gasped. Amy walked slowly towards him, still feeling feverish from the blast. Shadow ran as fast as his legs would let him, barely stumbling as he tried to get to his lover.

Before she could take another step, Amy heard the slight draw of a sword. Looking behind her, she noticed Sonic walking up behind Blaze, his arm slightly lifted about to hit Blaze with it. "Blaze?" she asked stunned. Knowing she was almost out of time, Amy changed her mind and raced over to Blaze, leaving Shadow there in shock.

With seconds to spare, she reached out to block Sonic's sword. "NO!" she shouted. Almost instantly she turned into fire crystal and coal . The impact of the sword on the crystal made it shatter, making Sonic crash behind a slab of ice. A final breath of smoke left Amy's lifeless body as she stood there like a statue.

Noticing something was in front of her, Blaze looked up, only to be faced with her sister's statue. "AMY!" she yelled. "Oh... Amy! NO... no... no... please no..." Blaze pleaded, gently touching Amy's fire crystal face with her hands. For a minute she stood there, staring into Amy's coal colored eyes, realizing what she had done.

Suddenly, the real grief struck her like lightning. She embraced Amy in a hug, sobbing as she did so. Shadow, Knuckles, and Big managed to catch up to her and also came to the realization that they were too late.

All their work was for nothing.

"Amy..." Knuckles asked, his voice slightly cracking. Shadow said nothing as he looked at the girl he loved, forever trapped. Everyone else was silent, knowing the princess of the Sol Empire was gone. The only sounds were Blaze's sobs.

Then, a miracle happened. The crystal and coal began to disappear. Amy's curse began to reverse. Knuckles gasped as he saw what was happening. Big bumped Shadow's arm showing him what was happening. Shadow's eyes widened.

At last, Amy could move and she sighed as she composed herself. Getting Blaze's attention. "Amy?" she asked at last. Both embraced each other in a hug after it was all over. "Oh Blaze..."

"You sacrificed yourself for me?" she asked. "I love you!"

Knuckles gasped realizing what this meant all along. "An act of true love will cool a burning flame!" he said out loud. "Love will cool... Of course!" she gasped. "Blaze!?" Amy cried excitedly. "LOVE!" she cried again.
