Lena's Homeless Sacrifice

Chapter 28 - Lois & Clark

It is now the end of the week, Friday, and Kara has been really busy with all her work at El-Corp. Although, Kara has in actuality purposely been keeping herself this busy, simply because she is very sad about coming home every evening to an empty penthouse. Kara had got so used to living with Lena/Krypto over the last few weeks, and having someone to come home to, the feeling of now coming home to an empty penthouse has just made Kara's lonely feeling all the worse. So, to attempt to counter this Kara has been trying to keep herself, and her mind, as busy as possible. This has meant that Kara has purposely been having late nights at El-Corp, only going home to sleep for four hours max, before then returning to work. It really is just Kara's attempt to avoid dealing with all the emotions she is feeling without Lena being by her side. This has all been made even worse because after Monday, Kara hasn't even bumped into Lena throughout the week. So, she hasn't seen her at all. The only updates that Kara has been getting about Lena, are through Alex and Sam.

On the Lex Luthor side of things, just like Kara predicted, she has noticed that there have been people who are following her now. Admittedly the people tailing Kara are very good, and her own security haven't even been able to pick them up, but Kara has easily been able to make them out with her super hearing, and her x-ray vision. After having a discussion with Alex, the sisters decided that it would be for the best for Kara to pretend that she is unaware that she is being watched, while also putting all her Supergirl activities on a hold for now. The last thing Kara wants is for one of Lex Luthor's people figure out her secret identity.

Sam and Lena are currently returning back home (to Sam's place), after having just finished up their day of work. Sam and Lena have been driving to work together, because Alex didn't see any problem with that. However, Alex has been driving in her own separate car, despite her also having stayed at Sam's every night since Lena moved in. Although Alex has mostly been doing that because she doesn't always go into El-Corp for work, as a lot of the time she travels into the DEO, and even when she does go to El-Corp her hours are usually different than Sam and Lena's.

Sam opens the front door to her home, and steps inside, followed by Lena.

"We're home!" Sam calls out to the babysitter who has been keeping an eye on Ruby and Krypto all day.

Lena and Sam hear the noise of people running towards them, and a few seconds later Krypto and Ruby appear, running in their direction.

"Mommy!" Ruby says, happily, with a smile on her face, running towards her mom and taking her in for a hug around her legs.

"Hello, baby." Sam smiles, picking Ruby up, and hugging her tightly.

Krypto, meanwhile, makes his way happily over to Lena, and the former homeless woman crouches down and begins to stroke her dog, and give him all sorts of affection.

"Were you a good boy today?" Lena smiles, as she continues to stroke her dog.

A few moments later, the babysitter appears, and Sam then has a brief conversation with her, before the babysitter then leaves. As soon as the babysitter leaves, Lena deactivates her image inducer, being able to actually look like her true self when it's just her, Ruby and Sam. Lena has honestly found it a bit depressing having to wear the image inducer any time she walks outside. Lena hates that she has to continue to hide. But at the end of the day, she does know that it is better than her walking around without an image inducer, and then either having to go on the run and be homeless to avoid Lex and Lillian, or be easily spotted by them if she isn't wearing it. Lena just really really hopes that this comes to an end sometime soon.

As for the research into Lex and Lillian front, there has not been any developments this week, as the group have all agreed that they just need to be careful for now, with Lex and his people having eyes on Kara. But they have agreed to continue doing more research this weekend. However before then, this evening, Superman and Lois Lane are due to arrive at Sam's to ask Lena some questions, to try and verify the story that Kara told Kal-El.
