This was it. My final chance to prove my parents wrong, that I'm capable of starting a music career. It's all very simple, my time in Hamburg yet it's all very different from what I imagined. It was 1960, I got the chance to go to Hamburg and preform in night clubs with a group from around where I live in Liverpool named The Mersey Royals. I was overly excited, couldn't contain my happiness and it all happened within what seemed such a fast pace year.

"Mum? Have you seen my red dress?" I yelled from my upstairs bedroom

"No, you washed it last," she yelled back bluntly

I spun from one place to another searching for the dress, I couldn't go without it. I've always done my best in that dress and without it, I feel like I'd make more of a fool of myself then I already do. I rushed down the narrow, creaky steps of my small house and past my mother who was making breakfast in the kitchen, my father who was reading the paper and my younger sister who was covered in her cereal.

"Lillian needs a clean up," I said opening the door to the laundry room

"Well I got twenty things goin' here,"
My mother shook her head as she wiped her hands on a towel. I groaned flinging clothes everywhere as the doorbell rang.

"Darren, could you please get the door?" My mum asked my father

"Alright," Dad let out a grumbly sigh as he got up and went to the door

"Got it!" I exclaimed grabbing my red dress

"It's Richard!" My dad yelled

"What's he need?" My mum yelled back

"It's for Ruth, not you Mary!" My dad said shuffling back into the kitchen

Richard's a good friend of mine, I looked at him crazy when he told me to start calling him Ringo after he joined a band. But I knew exactly why he was here, he's heading to Hamburg with me but with his band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, we're only playing the same show three times because of our separate gigs but, it'll still be nice to have him come along.

"Hey Rich," I smiled walking to the door

"I wanted to know what time your heading out to the ferry boat?" Richard asked

"I'm heading out at about twelve when Will and they guys come to get me," I answered

"Alright because me band is heading out now, you'll be a while then?" He questioned

"Yeah, Denis had something to do this morning so we couldn't catch this boat," I shrugged picking off a loose string from my dress

"Okay well, I should be heading off. See ya soon Ruthy," He ruffled my hair and walked down the steps and onto the sidewalk, I closed the door behind him and went back up to my room to pack. I placed my red dress in my suitcase, zipped it up sitting on my bed. This was my chance, finally I'm ready to prove to not only my family but to myself what I'm capable of.

Three Hours Later —

Soon Will, Larry, Denis and Roger were all downstairs ready to head down to the ferry boat. I made sure I had everything I needed and rushed downstairs to the front door where everyone was standing.

"Ready?" Denis asked

"As I'll ever be," I smiled

"Now listen, you're a young girl going to a foreign place, where they all speak German and nobody understands you. Be absolutely safe, it can be scary for a girl your age," My mother "scolded" like she always does

"Boys, take good care of her." My father said sternly

"We will Mr. Edwards, don't worry," Larry smiled

"Be good dear," My mother said giving me a hug

"Don't talk to strangers" My father added also giving me a hug

"Alright, let's head out." Roger said griping the door handle

"Remember what we told you!" My mother called as I walked down the steps and onto the sidewalk with the boys

"I will mum, see you next year!" I blew them a kiss and then piled into Will's car, we then drove off down to the docks, my journey was finally beginning
