Chapter 2

      We got onto the ferry and all sat down on the front deck of the boat, I watched as we drifted off from Liverpool and up our way to Hamburg. Smiling to myself as the waves sounded quiet and the breeze wasn't to strong, the smell of sea water and cigarette smoke really reminded me of how much I love the Liverpool docks not matter how dangerous. It was still a perfect day.

"Eh Ruth, how do you feel about getting to Hamburg?" Will asked, lighting a cigarette

"Not sure," I shrugged

"What bands are goin' there Will?" Asked Roger as he stuffed his mouth with potato chips

"Well we're all at different clubs, some are German, there's a few from around the UK I think but it's only us, Rory storm and the Hurricanes and The Beatles that are coming from Liverpool." Will rolled his eyes as the lads laughed

"What's so funny?" I questioned looking around at each of the snickering boys. 

"The Beatles are newbies, they have no clue what they're doing in Hamburg, and barely any experience." Will explained with a chuckle

"Well I'm a newbie too," I stated

"True, but you're with and experienced band." Denis smiled cheekily

"Have you seen them before? They're a good band just they've never been outta Liverpool. Hamburg is gonna be a slap in the face if they're not careful," Roger said to me, his mouth still full.

"I've seen 'em once before, I know they always play at the cavern, but I've only been there a few times," I shrugged.

"It's a gear place that ol' cavern," Larry smiled

"I'm gonna head off for a while, gotta clear me head before we dock in a few hours." Will said as Denis and Roger followed him down the boat.

I watched as they walked away and Larry swivelled next to me, " Listen, I wouldn't spend to much time around The Beatles if you ever bump into 'em," Larry warned

"Why not?" I questioned

"Will has a sorta "rivalry" with their lead man John Lennon" Larry said

"How do you mean?" I asked

"They went to the same grammar school Quarry Bank, never liked each other. Will started a band and then John started a band.  Was John copying him? No probably not but Will thinks John copy's him for everything, like we went to Hamburg last year, they followed up this year but they wouldn't have gone if it wasn't for a deal they got, we just went because our manager gets us these things. My point is Will always thinks John copy's him when there's a clearly different explanation, just don't get caught around them." Larry explained

"Alright, I'll do my best," 

"Thanks Ruthy," Larry smiled.
