Larry and I walked back to where the boys were. We entered the room and they all looked up. John examined Larry cautious, I assumed he was looking for an expression of anger on Larry's face. Paul, George and Pete looked from John to Larry in suspense, John straightened up and Larry did the same. For a good three minutes, they did their best to stare each other down. I was about to say something to break the silence, but Larry spoke up instead.
"I've been told quite a bit," Larry started, John looked to me but I smiled, which made John's expression change to confusion
"What's that exactly?" John asked
"That you and her have been going steady for a few months," Larry retorted
"It's no lie," John smirked
"Listen, Will is gonna find out eventually, and when he does he's not gonna be very happy, he can get over protective of Ruth I mean they're practically siblings," Larry sighed rubbing his eyes
"Who's to say I'm not over protective? Plus Will can't tell her who she can and can't be with," John said easing up
"He can definitely try."
John looked to me, I smiled warmly again. He slipped his jacket on and grabbed his guitar, the other lads took that as a cue to leave so they headed out the door. John grabbed my waist lightly and kissed me softly then looked me in the eyes.
"You should come out with me and the lads tonight, we're going out for George's birthday, the lads are bringing dates of their own so I'd rather not look like a fucking queer," He said softly, I looked to Larry and he shrugged
"Larry?" I asked which earned an eye roll from John
"Fine. But I'm telling will tonight, Ruth."
"How?" I asked
"Where are you going tonight, John?" Larry asked
"There's a pub close around here, a few blocks away," John answered
"Right, I'll convince Will to come out with me tonight and I'll bring him there." Larry shrugged
"Great," My heart jumped and I had big knots in my stomach now, I took a deep breath and looked to John who looked at me sympathetically
"It'll be okay," John said kissing my cheek
"It has to happen someday," Larry added
"I guess I'll see you tonight then, Larry." I sighed
"Tonight it is." He said ruffling my hair
John placed his arm around my shoulders and kissed my temple as we walked out of the club. I rested my head in the crook of his neck and closed my eyes softly, trying to mentally prepare myself for tonight. Suddenly going out didn't seem like such a good idea.
