They entered the room, their faces beet red and avoiding eye contact with each other. The door shuts behind them and both stand there awkwardly not knowing what to do next, both their hands held tightly together as they stood there in silence.
But after such a long silence Lance decided to speak up first, "So, Keith this is my room! just make yourself comfortable like it's your own room."
"Oh okay." Keith let go of Lance's hand and looked around a bit before he walked over and sat stiffly on Lance's bed. He looked to Lance with a face resembling a lost puppy, Lance snorted at how cute he looked.
"What?" Keith was taken aback by Lance's sudden laughter.
"Nothing, it's just that I told you to make yourself comfortable but you don't look comfortable at all." Lance chucked "You still have your shoes on, don't tell me you sleep with your shoes in bed?"
"I do sleep with my shoes on."
"What?" Lance is taken aback by this revelation. "Keith sleeping with shoes on isn't comfortable or sanitary."
"But it's more efficient to just keep them on and hop out of bed in an emergency. And I, unlike someone else, don't take forever getting ready."
"Okay, I may not be as "efficient" as you but I at least am comfortable when I sleep, so since you're in my room you have to take off your shoes and be comfortable like me."
"I thought you told me to make myself comfortable like it's my own room?"
"Well, I take it back."
Keith sighed and relented to Lance's demands. "Alright, I'll take them off." Keith took off his shoes and tossed them at Lance. "Happy now?" He smirked, Lance was only slightly amused at Keith's antics.
"Yes, now move over and make room for me." Lance gestured for Keith to move over closer to the wall. As Keith was moving over to make room for Lance both of them realized the situation they were putting themselves into. Both were sharing a small bed together so close to each other, yet neither of them brought it up to each other and once they settled down under the covers they became silent for a long while again.
'Why are we sharing a bed? Why did I tell him to move over? Why couldn't I just sleep on the floor?' Lance thought to himself over and over agonizing over how he was probably making Keith uncomfortable. He wished he could just hideaway for the rest of the night but he didn't want to leave Keith alone when he was feeling anxious.
Keith still couldn't sleep because of his nightmare and because Lance was so close to him. Keith looked at Lance, he had his back turned towards Keith, but little did he know that Lance had his back turned to him because he was red with embarrassment.
"Hey, Lance are you still awake?" Keith whispered.
"No."
"I still can't sleep."
"Want me to sing you a lullaby?" Lance jokingly answered.
"No thanks."
"Why? I have a pretty good singing voice, you know?" Lance smugly explained.
Keith chuckled softly, he had heard Lance sing while passing the bathroom and he thought that he did have a nice voice, but he didn't want Lance to know that. "No, but I just want to talk again."
Lance looked at Keith over his shoulder and turned around to face Keith. "Okay, what do you want to talk about?"
Keith felt a little shy and flustered now with Lance facing him, Lance noticed his reaction, and his embarrassment of the whole situation came flooding back to him. Lance wanted to do something to distract him from this embarrassment so he asked Keith a question.
"Um how about we play a game of crazy questions?"
"Crazy questions?"
"Yeah, it's a game my family made up to distract us during road trips where one person is supposed to ask a weird question that usually doesn't come up in normal conversations like 'Which finger on your hand is your favorite?'"
"Middle." Keith swiftly answered.
"Of course you would answer that."
"Alright, I get it."
"Oh, and you get bonus points if you can ask a non-inappropriate question that silences the person answering. And just so you know I'm pretty good at this game. " Lance smugly bragged to Keith.
"Alright, you're on Lance."
Both boys passed time asking weird questions to each other like how many chickens you could beat in a fight? And what is the weirdest combination of animals you can put together? Both laughed at each other's answers and questions both not noticing how closer they were getting to each other. It was Lance's turn and both of them were getting pretty tired now so Lance wanted to throw out a question to silence Keith. He thought for a bit and turned his head towards Keith. Both of them were laying on their backs, Lance looked at Keith's profile, Keith had his eyes closed and was relaxed next to Lance. Lance felt his heart flutter a bit looking at him.
"Keith?"
"Yeah?" Keith opened his eyes and turned to look at Lance.
"Have you ever thought about how many kids you want?" Lance asked Keith. Keith's eyes widened, and Lance just realized his big mistake.
(Crazy Questions play it with your family, friends, and potential love interest to get into crazy shenanigans !!!) Hello again here is another chapter that I have left on a cliffhanger. This whole night sequence is longer than I had originally thought it would be but that's because I'm procrastinating. Anyway, I want to say that I'm also posting this on AO3 as well but there I'm editing it to fix old grammar mistakes and fix some consistency issues that happen in later chapters as well as re-write some unimportant things as well. But everything else should be the same with some added dialogue here and there.
If you want to read it you can click the link in the comments or just search Purple Child (and I will still be posting both here and there)
