Thomas finally started running, his mind absent, his heart not into surviving anymore. They reached the subway, Brenda, Frypan and Gally waiting anxiously against a phone booth. "Let's go!!" Brenda called out to the recovering group as they stumbled and ran blindly towards more destruction and death, "We have to make it out of here then we'll get to Jorge!" Thomas tripped, falling flat on his face, not having the will to stand again. Frypan and Brenda dragged him to his feet, once again outrunning the falling city. Gally lead the way, a launcher braced against his shoulder, ready to fire. "Come on, move!" Harper clung to Newt's arm, following closely behind Minho. They made it out of the tunnel just in time to see The Right Arm destroying everything that was still standing, fighting with remaining soldiers. "They were supposed to take down WICKED... Not the entire city..." Harper nudged him, pushing him to keep moving. The Berg was hoovering around the block, a few Right Arm soldiers had shifted their focus to it. Now it was a race to get there. Harper let go of Newt to draw her gun. She fired, hitting the masked man aiming at the Berg. "GO-" Harper stood her ground, shoulder to shoulder with Minho and Newt, fighting back while the others boarded the Berg.

Gasping, Harper collapsed against the wall. She heaved in deep breaths, not sure she would ever get enough air in her lungs again. She cradled Newt in her arms, the boy was pale and looked exhausted but he was here. With her... Newt looked up at her, smiling. Despite getting shot, he was still bloody smiling. Harper wiped the tears she didn't know were falling. "Hey," Newt reached a weak arm up to stroke her cheek, "We're okay."

Jorge, despite flying the great metal Berg, would glance back every so often; assuring himself his kids all made it... Thomas had fallen asleep, curled up in a corner, his face smudged with blood, ash and tears.
Harper closed her own eyes, letting her head fall back against the cool metal. Newt was asleep, Vince having dressed the hole in his side, he looked peaceful.

Later, when she woke up, she would be on a ship, on the way to a new start, leaving everything that happened behind them.
