"There is an overhang. It's up high so we can see any spies down low and trees surround a large clearing so we are easily hidden," I answered for Gandalf. "There is a small cliff on one side of it so we have some more sense of protection." Gandalf didn't know the backroads. He traveled through towns and cities. It would be much easier if they would trust me and leave the traveling to me.
"What says the wizard?" Dori said from behind us.
"She is right," Gandalf answered slowly. "That is the best place to stay tonight the other places are too far away."
"Which one of you knows the way best?" Thorin questioned.
"I do," I said and rode forward. I lead them through bushes and bramble until we came close to the clearing. "Wait here," I whispered and jumped off of Heru.
"Where are you going?!" Fili asked.
I shushed him. "Do you think I am the only one who knows about this place?" I whispered back. "The only reason I know of it is because of bandits and mercenaries," I answered. They all nodded and stayed out while I went close to the overhang. I peaked through the bushes and found no one in sight. I ran back down and nodded to everyone.
"If you can see anyone below how is it that you don't know that they ran off and are waiting to ambush us?" Bufor asked.
"While you guys look like a bunch of mindless travelers, they cannot detect the swiftness and invisibility of an elf. Plus, they would have had a fire and the pit is black and cold," I answered and stroked Heru's nose. "Khaila Amin," I ordered and started to walk to the clearing.
"First you call is mindless and then, do you insult us in elvish?!" Gloin said angerily. Out of all of the dwarves, Gloin and Thorin had a tie for their hatred of elves.
"She wants you to follow her," Gandalf said and urged his horse on.
"It will be easier if you dismounted and walked the rest of the way. Horses have a hard time here," I said and walked away to the overhang.
After much grumbling, the dwarves dismounted and followed the direction I left in. I had left them behind with no directions of how to get there. By the time Dwalin came bursting into the clearing, I had a fire already made and was growing grass for Heru with my powers.
"Took you long enough!" I laughed and leaned against the rock.
"Well I don't have the elegance of an elf," Dwalin curtseyed and batted his eyelashes. I laughed and so did he and the others followed it.
"You could have waited," Thorin mumbled when he arrived last.
"Oh, well, that would have been to easy," I answered. With a huff, he sat in front of a large Boulder.
"Fili, Kiti, Kili, take the first watch," Thorin ordered and shut his eyes.
"Is this punishment for having a little fun with you?" I smiled.
"What did Fili and I do wrong?!" Kili shouted in protest and Fili slapped him over the head. We all sat down around the fire, our backs to the rock wall and watched everyone go to sleep.
As soon as they were, Kili exploded, "What did you mean by seeing Erebor in its former glory?"
"When I was traveling, I ran low on..." I started but was soon cut off by Fili.
"You would never run low on supplies," he shook his head. "You had friends in Laketown and Dale. Why would you go to my great grandfather instead of to them?"
"If I tell you, you must swear never to mention it to anyone without my consent," I looked intensely at both of them.
"We promise," they said together and I began my tale.
