Eagles, lords of the skies, swooped over us and picked up the orcs and wargs. They dropped the foul beasts off the cliff and came for more. Azog yelled for his men to retreat in dismay and very few got away.
"Kiti!" Fili yelled and ran over to me. "Are you okay?" He asked and knelt beside me.
"I have been better," I smiled a little. "How is your uncle?" I asked.
"The Eagles are taking him away now," he answered. "Look."
He pointed up and I saw an eagle slowly and carefully pick up Thorin. It managed to grab Orcist but Thorin's oaken shield slipped off. Fili had no time to grab it for it was our turn. An eagle with bilbo upon it swooped down and picked up Fili. Then just after it, one with Gandalf scooped me up into its claws. After we glided over the eagle now bearing Thorin in its claws for a few moments, I was slowly lowered on to its back.
It's feathers were soft and I gripped on to it with my good hand. The sun was now high in the sky and i sighed. The Eagles would not carry us forever but they would carry us to the look out point which was a while away. I would rest until we got there. When the Eagles came to Lookout Point, they circled it before landing one at a time. After their rider had slide off, they flew away once again.
"My dear Kiti!" Gandalf exclaimed when my eagle landed. It had first dropped Thorin on to the ground several feet away before landing to allow me off. "How are you?" The old wizard questioned.
"I am fine. How is Thorin?" I questioned. When I looked over, I saw that everyone was facing the solitary peak off into the northwest, including Thorin. The lonely mountain was close.
"He will live," Gandalf answered and grabbed my hand before I slid off. I hit the ground with a sharp pain. I breathed in deeply through my mouth. "His wounds, however, are not as bad as yours," Gandalf looked at me gravely.
"What?" I said but I would not make eye contact with him. He knew black speech and understood that I was to go with Azog alive while the pale Orc left Thorin without a head.
"Kiti," Thorin said lightly behind me. I turned and found all of the company facing me with Thorin, Fili, and Kili in the front.
I smiled and tilted my head to him. "I am sorry for not bowing. I have been gravely wounded," I said and Thorin smiled.
"We should be the ones who are sorry," Thorin answered and gestured to his friends. "You were left alone to face a small army of orcs," he looked at me sadly. "We are in your debt."
"Well considered your debt to be fulfilled," I answered with a smile. Everyone looked at me in confusion but I walked, or walked the best I could to Thorin's side and clasped his shoulder. "Your debt is filled for I get to look upon the Lonely Mountian with its King," I smiled and everyone turned around once more. I limbed to the edge of the Point with Thorin and bilbo on one side and Fili and Kili on the other and everyone else behind us.
"Look! The birds are returning to the mountain!" Gloin yelled as a small bird flew past us.
"That my dear Gloin, is a thrush," Gandalf answered with a grin.
"I do believe the worst is behind us," Bilbo sighed. Thorin and I looked at him with a smile and then to each other.
