When I came to, i saw spots and I could hear little sections of conversations. Then after several more minutes of this, i groaned and it all flooded in. I was laying off to the side of the others and there was a large campfire in the center of a clearing. They were slowly roasting something over it. 'They' were three mountain trolls.
"Kiti! Your awake," a voice whispered and I looked over. Something wasn't right. They were in bags and bound, so was I. I looked back to the fire, the trolls were cooking dwarf! I looked back to the pile. "Are you okay?" Kili asked.
"I don't know," I answered. "I can't check for injuries since my hands are bound but my head, it feels wet."
"Well we are just glad that you are awake," Bilbo said. It sounded as if they were just waiting for me to wake up.
After several minutes of just watching the dwarves go around the fire, I realized we were short a member. "Where is Gandalf?!" I asked in a frenzy.
"The crazy old wizard wandered off before they caught us," Thorin grumbled.
"Kiti, you know about these things," Kili said. "Do they have any weaknesses or something that we can do to harm them?"
"Mountain trolls are not from these parts," I pondered. "They are very tough with a very large appetite. But they turn to stone in the sunlight."
"How far off is dawn?" Thorin questioned earnestly.
"About 10 minutes off at the most," I said looking at the sky.
"They should be sautéed and grilled with a sprinkle of sage," one of the trolls said.
"That does sound quite nice," another nodded in agreement.
"Wait!" Bilbo called out and pushed himself up. "You are making a terrible mistake. With the seasoning," he said.
"What do you know about cooking dwarf?" The cooking troll asked.
"There is a secret," he lost it there. He didn't have a secret.
"Um excuse me?" I made my voice go high and innocent.
"What does the little elf want?!" One of the trolls growled.
"I have spoken to Smaug the terrible," I squeaked. "He said that it is easier to cook dwarf if you season them before you start to roast."
"Why would a pipsqueak like you talk to a fire breathing lizard?" The troll poked me.
"It was an accident, sir," I yelped. "I was picking herds as to help the poor people of Laketown. I stumbled upon him licking a skull of some poor animal or other. He didn't see me until I was in the tree line. 'An elf' he said, 'I never had elf before.' His lips curled in a threatening way and he cornered me. 'I have heard of your greatness,' i whimpered. 'Tales of your destruction and of how many you have killed.' He seemed quite impressed so he told me several of his secrets," I answered and started a small fire my hand and slowly burned away the rope.
"She has a way with words," Another troll came up and picked my up. "She shouldn't be trusted!" He hung me above his head. "There's nothing with a bit of raw dwarf or elf!" He started to lower me into his mouth and I held my breath and bilbo yelled at him.
"Don't she's infected!" Bilbo shouted. "She's got worms in her tubes," he stumbled.
"What?!" The troll yelled and threw me into the pile. I groaned and gasped my leg. I was thrown against a large rock and it felt like something had cracked in my back and a sharp hit my leg.
"Are you okay?" A rough voice asked from right under me. I just then realized that I had landed on someone. I looked down and I was on top of Kili.
