"Kiti, where are you going?" Fili and Kili and Ori appeared in the doorway.

"Your comfort lies in riches, hobbits in the comforts of home, I am comfortable when I watch the moon travel through the sky and the sun rise," I smiled and walked to the end of the pathway. I smiled as black shadow zipped through the Shire.

"What is that?!" Ori said with fear plain in his voice.

The shadow stopped by and could now be seen to be a horse. "This is Heru," I answered and stroked the horse's nose. I swung myself up into his back and turned to the three dwarves at the door. "I will meet you in the morning and travel with you as far as fate will let me."

"Until tomorrow," Fili said as I mounted Heru. I smiled and winked at him before urging Heru away.

Heru carried me to the edge of the Shire and up a great hill. I turned and looked at Bag End. There was light pouring from the windows and through the open door. Heru reared and turned on his hind legs. He was eager to go back to the forest. I smiled and urged him to the forest.

Once we were protected by the tree's I jumped off of Heru. I looked up at the trees and walked around. Tonight would be a night that I could have a nice rest in a well known forest. I rarely sleep but I like to sleep with others around me when I do. I would have to go up the road so would not be too far behind the others when I awoke. I just wanted to see this old forest in which so many memories were laid.

I had gone on many adventures and came back alive. But I had a feeling this one would be different. Friends of old were traveling with me and that is never a good combination. 'Will I ever have a chance to run through this forest with little Lily Cotton? Or dance in the moonlight with the hobbits?' I thought. This adventure was going to be different.

Once I have found the spot where I first met Lily, a little clearing about 20 yards to the north, I pulled out a piece of paper. I took a quill from my bag and started to write. 'To Lily Cotton and all the other hobbit children' I put on an envelope. The letter would be a short one but a meaningful one. I always like to say goodbye to those I leave behind and leave on good terms.

Dear Lily and all the other hobbit children,
I am sorry to leave you on such short notice. Business has called me to the Rivendell and then I must travel to Mirkwood. I may not return for a while. Next time I see you, wherever it may be, I will tell you what I had learned and saw.
Hope to see you soon,
Kiti, Princess of the Unknown
P. S. Tell Lucifer to lighten up a little!

I propped the letter against several flowers and willed them to curl around the envelope. As I began to walk away, Heru nudged my back and snorted. I smiled. He always knew when I was upset.

"Come on, Heru lets go up the road," I said and swung myself up on to his back. He snorted and galloped back to the road. We road on for a while before coming to a place when the forest thinned out a little. "Whoa, boy, let's stay here," I said when we came to a giant oak tree. Heru snorted in agreement as I jumped off.

I scaled the large oak easily and Heru wandered off looking for fresh grass. We were on a back road so the chances of bandits were slim but the chances of dwarves in the morning were very high. I fell asleep quickly listening to the crickets and the owls. A stream trickled nearby and then wind blew through the leaves. It was a good night.
