Bloody Hell!

3 weeks of the same routine went by in a flash. Elliot and I couldn't be happier within our relationship. The little habits this boy does... it never failed to make me smile. Unfortunately I didn't know how many more days we had of this in the future, because of the Apex games.

As I let myself into his bar, I took notice of the rare serenity when no one was here. So quiet, yet full of life with neon lights and music playing distantly on the speakers. That's when the life of the party himself strode into the room.

"Hey, cutie." Elliot chirped.

I grinned at his presence and gave him a morning hug. "Hey, trickster. What you been up to?"

"Just cleaning up the place some more." He replied, his face at neutral state. "It's gotta be perfect for my bartender when we leave."

I realized what he was referring to and nodded. His "babysitter" he so called it. After all, Paradise Lounge was second in Elliot's heart (next to pork chops, of course).

I'd come to peace (yet somehow, anxiously) with the fact that we both had to leave for the arena today.

"You need any help?" I offered. "We should probably get going soon. I have to grab some of my stuff from upstairs, but, that's it.."

I was interrupted by Elliot's hands on my shoulders. "I'm good babe. Go get your stuff and les-go!" He answered enthusiastically. Mirage really had more confidence then I did about winning this whole ordeal.

I laughed and gave him a quick peck on the cheek, before jogging upstairs.

Arrive at the Kings Canyon Hotel for Champions

"Okay, wow." I awed. "This place is exclusively for us?"

"Mmmhm!" Elliot replied, carrying all of my bags with just 1 arm. "Maybe we can be roomies!"

I rolled my eyes and carried Elliot's backpack in an effort to ease his arms in the slightest. "Come on, let's just get settled so we can prepare for the firing range tomorrow."

We shuffled up the steps to check-in, me observing contestants from all over the region. Some of these people looked intense— you had soldiers, pilots.. and literal robots.

And then there were some people who looked actually pleasant! One blondie had electric currents plastered on her backpack, another girl with what looked like a nurses bag. Perhaps it wouldn't be so insufferable after all.

"WALLLTTTTERRRRRRRR!" Elliot bellowed, scaring me out of any thoughts.

All of our bags collectively fell onto the floor while my ecstatic boyfriend sprinted towards... a pirate? No, wait. It's just an Australian man with an eye patch. No biggy.

"Bloody hell!" I heard the man reply. "It's ye old boy Mirage. How the hell are ya' doin?"

Both men gave into a hug before exchanging banter. I smiled their way, but redirected my attention to the lady at the front desk and discussed our rooms. Darn it.. we didn't get beside each other. Same floor at least, though.

Bummed out, I made my way towards Elliot with all of our bags. He didn't pay much attention to my actions, which makes me think this "Walter" fella has quite the friendship. I stood beside them until the conversation halted.

"(Y/N), this is Walter Fitzroy, my old teammate who brought me my first victory!" Elliot obnoxiously rushed. "In other words, my BESTIEEEE!"

I couldn't help but snort at his enthusiasm and extend my hand towards the old timer. "My name's (Y/N), a real pleasure to meet you sir."

"Ah hell, I don't do that around here." Walter retorted before engulfing me into a huge bear hug. I couldn't help but giggle, and that made Elliot smile to see us getting along.

I had to admit, this guy seemed like a good man. I subconsciously wondered, in the back of my mind, if maybe Walter was a father figure to him. The idea alone comforted me.

"So, about 'our' room," I redirected. "Unfortunately that didn't workout. But, we're on the same floor— 17."

Elliot frowned but nodded, and exchanged a glance with Fitzroy, who was already smiling.

"Mate, I see what you two are. And I'm bloody happy for ya." The man put his hand on Elliot's shoulder. "We're all on the same floor, so maybe that means we're in the same squad!" He comforted.

Elliot grinned and nodded his head. "Yeah, f-for sure! We gonna train tomorrow?"

"You can bet your asses we are, mates."
