Chapter 23

Y/N's POV

Loki and I were sitting at Mobius's desk, we were wearing TVA uniforms. Miss Minutes tried explaining to us how the timeline worked. Loki didn't pay much attention to the clock's class. He was reading a magazine that was left on Mobius's desk.

"Okay y'all, let's review what we've learned. What happens when a nexus event branches past red line ?" Miss Minutes asked.

"Very bad things" Loki said not looking up from his magazine.

"Y/N ?" She asked.

"It's when the TVA can no longer reset a nexus event" I said.

Unlike Loki, I was quite curious about the TVA and the Sacred Timeline.

"Thank you Y/N. Let's hope your husband wants to learn as much as you do" Miss Minutes said in an annoyed tone.

"Can you hear me ? Are you a recording ? Or are you alive ?" Loki asked our teacher.

"Kinda both... ?"

Loki grabbed the magazine and began hitting Miss Minutes, until she took refuge inside a computer where Loki couldn't reach her.

"Where are your manners ?" She said before leaving.

Mobius appeared behind us and he saw Loki holding his magazine.

"Is that my magazine ? Put that down. Gear up, both of you. There's been an attack" He said.

Mobius handed us two TVA jackets. We put the jackets and I looked at the back of Loki's.

"Hey ! The jacket says 'Variant'" I said.

"That's what you guys are" Mobius answered with a laugh.

I sighed and followed him.

We were having a meeting with the minutemen who would come with us on this mission.

"C-20 and her team went dark shortly after they jumped into the 1985 branch. All signs point to another ambush. We've grabbed enough temporal aura to know it's our Loki Variant. But which kind of Loki remains unknown" B-15 explained.

"The lesser kind, to be clear" Loki said.

Mobius continued the explanation.

"Here's the deal. When we get out on the branch, we're not just looking for a time criminal. We're looking for a Loki. A variation of this guy" Mobius pointed at Loki.

Mobius used his device to project small images of different Loki Variants.

One of them was tall and blue. Another was a cyclist holding a trophy. They all kept getting stranger.

"The TVA has pruned a lot of these guys, almost more than any other variant. No two are alike. Slight difference in appearances or not so slight. Different powers but most of them are similar. We're gonna break into two teams, including myself, Loki and Y/N" Mobius said.

"Why ?" I asked.

"Because whoever this variant is, we haven't been able to find him. So let's bring in two experts"

"That's us" Loki said pointing at us.

Once the meeting was over, we walked towards the lockers where the minute men were getting their things ready for the mission.

"Do I get a weapon ?" Loki asked Mobius, optimistic.

"Nah" Mobius answered.

"Well, I'll have my magic back and so will Y/N. Is no one concerned about that ?"
