Chapter 18: "The Monsters at the End of This Book"

They walk into a comic book store and ask the guy behind the counter some questions. The guy says, "Uh... can I help you?" Dean says, "Sure hope so. Agents DeYoung, Ace, and Shaw. Just need to ask you a few questions." Liz says, "Notice anything strange in the building, last couple of days?" The guy says, "Like what?" Dean says, "Well, some other tenants reported flickering lights." The guy says, "Uh... I don't think so. Why?" Sam says, "What about noises? Any skittering in the walls? Kind of like rats?" The guy says, "And the FBI is investigating a rodent problem?" Liz says, "What about cold spots? Feel any sudden drops in temperature?" The guy smiles and says, "I knew it! You guys are LARPing, aren't you?" Dean says, "Excuse me?" The guy says, "You're fans." Sam says, "Fans of what?" Dean says, "What is 'LARPing?" Liz says, "Live Action Roleplaying." The guy points at Liz and says, "Yeah, it's weird you two don't know." Dean looks at Liz and says, "How do you even know?" Liz says, "Winter and me play a lot of it." Dean nods and says, "Of course you do." The guy says, "Anyway, you guys are playing it pretty hard core too." Dean says, "I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about." The guy says, "You're asking the questions like the building's haunted. Like the two guys and the girl from the books. What are they called? Uh... "Supernatural." Two guys and a girl, use fake I.D.s with rock aliases, hunt down ghosts, demons, vampires. What are their names? Uh, Steve, Dirk, and Leia? Uh, Sal, Dane, Lia?" Sam says, "Sam, Dean, and Liz?" The guy says, "That's it!" Dean says, "you're saying this is a book?" The guy says, "Books. It was a series. Didn't sell a lot of copies, though. Kind of had more of an underground-cult following. Let's see. Uh..." The guy goes to grab a copy of the book. The guy says, "Ah. Yeah. That's the first one I think." Dean says, "Supernatural" by Carver Edlund. "Along the lonely California highway, A mysterious woman in white lures men to their deaths." Liz says, "Give me that. We're gonna need all the copies of "Supernatural" you've got."
