Chapter 20: A Slow Dance...

[Y/N POV]

I knew I wouldn't fit in here. And right now, I was not fitting in here whatsoever. Looking around at all the fancy decor and all the food that was set out...

Y/N: Okay...this is going well so far...

Hannah still had a hold of my arm but thankfully was chatting with Barbara so she couldn't see how uncomfortable I was getting.

However...

Diana: You don't look like you're very happy Y/N.

Hannah's ears perked up and she immediately turned to me and Diana.

Hannah: Huh? What's wrong? Why aren't you happy Y/N?

She took her hand and gently caressed my cheek.

Y/N: I-I don't fit in Hannah...l-look around at everything.

She did and then back at me again.

Hannah: Yeah? So? What's wrong with it all?

Y/N: A-All the people here come from such rich families. E-Everything here just m-makes me feel I've been dragged off the streets. W-well...that's not wrong...

Hannah: Y/N...no one here knows where you're from! None of us will tell them right?

Barbara: Nope!

Diana: Of course not.

Hannah: See? You need not worry about what the others think about you! Like I said, you look so handsome in that suit! It really does fit you!

Y/N: Y-yeah but-.

Hannah: Shhh. Please Y/N, this will be the only time I'll ever ask you to something like this. Unless you want to. I-I just...really wanted you here with me.

It really meant a lot to know that Hannah wanted to spend her time at a party like this with me.

Perhaps I just needed to forget about all that and just...enjoy it.

Y/N: O-okay...

She smiled at me and gently brought me in for a kiss. Her lips were soft and sweet...

Hannah: There we go. Just keep your arm in mine. We can enjoy this together!

And that's what happened. For a little while, I walked around with my arm still linked with Hannah's.

There were a lot of people who were looking at us, however no one seemed to ask about me or even come up to talk to Hannah.

Y/N: I'm surprised your parents aren't here Hannah. If you were invited then shouldn't they have been as well?

Hannah: Uhhh I think they did. But they're always really busy and don't have the time to come to parties. This isn't their thing anyway really.

I nod my head.

Andrew: Ah Diana! Glad you could find a gap in your busy schedule to come here and grace us with your presence!

And here was the man of the hour. Andrew had come over to speak with Diana. I tried my best to not get noticed, but I knew that failed when I heard my name.

Andrew: And I suppose this is Y/N.

I look up to see that he was smiling at little at me.

Y/N: Y-yeah that's me. Hello!

Andrew: Nice to meet you. Miss England here had a lot to say about you and was full of praise. If I had met you on my visit to Luna Nova, I would've invited you myself.
