Yae Miko's POV
"We're Kitsunes, father. I hope you remember that." I tell him, slightly disappointed on how he sees and looks at us as if we're just going to be fodder. Seeing him look so worried over two people makes me wonder just how strong are they? I mean, they're battling the entire Kitsune species so, I don't know if they were really that strong or just plain dumb.
"Miko... these are two demons we're dealing with. Harbingers who were made specifically for killing species. I don't think we should be underestimating them." He says, glaring at me. If looks could kill... I would be dead right now. He really is dead serious on these two. Still... it just doesn't sit right with me.
"But with the way you're acting, you're also underestimating us. All of us." I say exactly how I feel. I didn't just go through my entire life training and learning all sorts of spells just so I could stand back and run away from two demons, no honey, no. Even if it kills me, I will see to it that they will be injured enough that Raiden could take them out. It's that easy-
"You don't understand anything, child!" His echoing scream, as well as the large noise his hand hitting the table just made, disrupts my line of thought as the table he had slammed visibly cracked. He was... shaking. Were these two really that powerful? I mean, if they are then, escape or not, we're dead here.
"I am simply making precautions as to not let us become extinct. Our god is busy fighting a war between another nation so, all we can do right now is to buy time for her to return to us." He says, the audible lightning crackles in the background emphasizes what he had just said. Honestly, I'm tired of this war.
"Then what's your plan? I assume you have something in mind to deal with this problem." I ask. If he resorted to yelling at me when I was suggesting countless of ideas, I take it he has something better in mind. I'm literally the smartest Kitsune alive, why the hell is he doubting my intelligence? I expect an amazing answer as I lean my back on the Fusuma, sighing deeply.
"...I have nothing in mind." He says. What... the hell? After he had turned down all of my brilliant ideas, he replies to me with 'nothing in mind'? I clench my fist, suppressing the urge to yell as I exhale, calming down.
"You can't be serious. Have you thought of taking the children away? Sending them to some place safe so we can at least have our bloodline continue if worse comes to worst?" I suggest another brilliant plan that I don't know why the hell he hasn't thought of doing yet. I mean, being an adult, I've already lived my life and I think I'm prepared to die in this. What I don't understand is why we don't have some sort of failsafe.
