Mimi Webb - I'll Break My Heart Again:
'Being with somebody helps but if I'm honest with myself.. I'll break my heart again. I'll tell him it's the end. If you change your mind and take me back for just one day of what we had. I'll break my heart again'

The next few days, Noelle stayed in bed and ignored the world around her. She didn't answer any phone calls and she knew the device would be dead by now seeing she hadn't charged it in three days. Sophie had come to visit her multiple times and every time she managed to convince her that she was just really sick, not wanting to tell her the real reason she hadn't left her bed in days. But today was Thursday and Noelle knew she would have to get up eventually. She was supposed to visit the Elle headquarters this morning for her interview with them and later today she would receive a phone call to let her know if she had graduated.

Normally Noelle would have been nervous for many days prior to two of these big events, but she felt completely empty. Her heart was shattered and she had been too hurt to even think about what was about to happen until now. Noelle reluctantly pulled herself out of bed and made her way to the bathroom to get into the shower. She felt gross and the feeling of the warm water on her back made her relax a little, able to think about the events of today. The nerves started bubbling up a bit now and when Noelle was getting ready for the day, she finally realized the importance of what was about to happen.

She prepared a bowl of yoghurt and for the first time in days, she ate a few bites of food. It felt weird to be up again after doing nothing for a while, but she knew she couldn't hide away forever. When it was getting closer to when she was supposed to leave, Noelle decided to charge her phone and turn it on to see if she had missed any important messages. There were a few e-mails from school, a lot of messages in her group chats and a few from Sophie. Her eyes lingered on the screen when suddenly Charles name popped up on the screen and her phone kept vibrating like crazy. He had been texting her all week, trying to get her to talk to him and Noelle's eyes glided over the messages.

He seemed desperate for her to answer him back and Noelle felt guilt wash over her when she noticed how worried he had been. But then she remembered why she hadn't answered him in the first place and she left her phone on the counter when she grabbed her purse and headed out the door. The Elle headquarters was only a twenty-minute walk from her apartment and Noelle took a deep breath in when she finally felt some fresh air on her face again. She arrived at the office before she even noticed it and without hesitating, she stepped inside. She introduced herself to the receptionist who told her Manon would be with her soon. After a few minutes, the familiar journalist walked up to her and asked her to follow her to her office.

The interview took about an hour and Noelle sighed when she stepped outside again. It had been a nice talk and she really liked Manon. They had talked about her collection for the fashion show, her ambitions for the future and Noelle had told her about her new business venture with her best friend, telling her about their ideas and what they would like to accomplish. Noelle was satisfied with how it went when she made her way back home but it was nice to be back inside her familiar space as she still was feeling really sad. Sophie had told her she would be visiting again today and Noelle was looking forward to her company for the first time in a while.

A few hours later, the brunette girl let herself into the apartment with the key they had exchanged years ago when Noelle moved in. "Hey, you're out of bed!" She said when she sat down next to the blonde girl on the sofa. Noelle had her knees pulled up to her face and smiled lightly when she saw her best friend. "How are you feeling? How did the interview go?" She asked and Noelle tried to avoid her gaze again, she knew she couldn't lie to her best friend when she looked at her like that. "I'm fine. Feeling a little better today. The interview went great". She said and by the way Sophie's eyes were still burning on her face, Noelle knew she didn't believe her. "What's going on, Elle? You have been locked up in this apartment for days now. Something happened and I really need you to tell me, I'm worried".
