Avery Lynch - To Love Someone Else:
'You know you make me feel good and that's something I don't take for granted for lately, no. And those eyes, that smile, yeah it glows but I can't help feeling like something's missing though'

"So I followed him outside and when he turned to look at me, I saw a completely different person than I had seen for the past few weeks. He was annoyed and he looked me up and down as if I was disgusting. And then he asked me what the deal was with me and Charles". Noelle looked at where her hands were fiddling with the hem of her dress, the feelings of being out there on that patio with Stephan returning once again. "He told me that I clearly dressed up like this for him". She tried to imitate the tone Stephan had when he spoke to her and it made Sophie's eyes go wide. "What a dick". The brunette girl said and she placed her hand on her best friends arm. "I told him we have known each other since we were little and we have always just been friends, but he didn't believe me. He got really rude".

The more she spoke, the more Noelle noticed her nerves build up. This was her best friend's cousin she was talking about and even though Sophie had always joked about the two of them secretly getting together and making gagging noises when she thought they liked each other, they had never discussed it so seriously. "Are you sure that's all it is though, Elle?" The question Sophie asked her, scared her a bit. She had never asked her anything like that and it was confusing why she wouldn't just back up her answer. Noelle nodded slightly, but she knew her best friend could sense the hesitation in her answer. "Charles is one of my best friends, he always has been. We can never be more than that. And besides, he brought Celeste tonight. He's with her".

Before Noelle was even finished talking, Sophie burst out in laughter. "You know he's not really into her, right? He hated her guts when we were younger. I'm sure she had more to do with the fact that she was there than he did". Noelle shrugged, not really in the mood to discuss Celeste with her right now. It was just confusing as she had never pictured Charles to be with someone like that. He could get anyone he wanted, why would he want to be with such a manipulating and condescending person? The girls were silent for a moment, both of them just staring out the big apartment window, into the night. All of a sudden, Noelle felt Sophie's hand squeeze her arm and she looked back at her.

"You know I was only joking when I said I didn't want you guys to be together for all these years, right?" The brunette girl looked really concerned, her eyebrows furrowed and her eyes fixated on Noelle's blue ones. The blonde girl pursed her lips together, she didn't know that. She had always thought Sophie hated the thought of her best friend and her cousin together. That's why she had kept everything a secret, from the moment Charles asked her if she wanted him to come to her school dance, to the first time they kissed in the club and even their friends with benefits agreement. Noelle bit her bottom lip and tried to think of an answer to give her best friend. It was just all hypothetical, after all, it would never happen like that in the first place.

"I know". She lied. "But it doesn't matter anyway. There is nothing there. Charles and I are just friends and that's all we are ever going to be". It was more of a statement to convince herself than an answer to Sophie but Noelle was relieved to see her best friend believed her. "So what are you going to do with Stephan now?" She continued and that was the part Noelle was dreading. She knew she had to talk to him and she also knew that she didn't want to continue things with him, having seen a side to him that she really didn't like tonight. "I think I'm going to give him a call.. Do you mind if I go to your bedroom for a moment?" The blonde girl asked and her friend immediately shook her head. "Of course not, go ahead. Call for me if you need me, okay?" Sophie said before Noelle stood up and she slowly squeezed her best friend's hand for a moment.
