Third Person.

Melody Jane sat in the studio, Conan Gray's voice booming in her ears as she added the harmonies to his upcoming track.

"Melly, can we do like four more layers of that harmony and then make the main track louder? I don't wanna drown it out." Conan said looking at her as he slightly moved his headphones off his head, althought it was more of a statement than a question.

Melody nodded, "I love that idea, maybe we should try adding some hums too, to make it flow easier with the piano."

Conan smiled and nodded, putting his headphones back on as he continued singing into the mic.

Melody has been one of Conan's producers since 2019, although she's known him much longer. The idea was brought up by Conan, after Melody was kicked out by her parents, she moved in with him. As soon as she moved moved in, Conan recognized the talent for music inside of her.

She always said she'd love to make music, but Conan didn't know how serious she was about it until she asked if they could work on something together. After that, it was an unspoken rule that Melody was one of his go-to producers. The connection they have in a studio together is completely unmatched.

Conan came out of the booth, running his hand through his messy brown hair, "I think this may be our best one yet, Melly."

Melody blew rasberries and nodded, plopping down onto the couch. "Eh, i dont know about that. Maniac is still my favorite," She shrugged and grabbed her phone. Conan sat beside her, wrapping his arm around her. "You're so very talented, Melody! You're definitely my favorite producer i've ever had, my best friend!" He began exaggerating his love for her, causing Melody to furrow her eyebrows.

"Oh god, what did you do?"

"Damn, I can't express my love for my best friend?"

Melody raised her eyebrows, waiting for him to tell the truth. Conan sighed, "Well, I decided it was time to...share your talent with other artists!"

Melody's voice went more quiet, "What do you mean...". Conan moves his eyes away from hers, moving his arm from around her. "Well...Okay, i know how you are, so just hear me out. There's this band...and i thought that maybe since you love boybands so much you'd enjoy helping them out with a song they're working on!"

The girl's eyes widened and her mouth dropped a little. Conan is the only artist Melody has ever worked with, and Conan hated it but the thought of working with someone new made her so anxious.

She knew Conan for years, he wouldn't mind if she messed up or turned one of his ideas down. But, with a different artist, she'd have absolutely no backbone. Conan had enough of it though, he knew how talented she was, and he wasn't allowing her to hide it anymore.

Melody thought for a second, causing the room to be silent for a bit. She had conflicted feelings. Conan wasn't one to push her when she was unsure about something. I mean sure, he'd verbally encourage her to do something he wanted her to do, but he never took matters into his own hands.

Her eyes looked around the room, waiting for a sign. Some sort of sign to tell her, "No. Don't do it Melody. You aren't good enough yet.". There was no signs, just the sound of the busy California streets getting louder by the second, inching her to make a decision.

What if he really is right? What if this is my chance to be as big as i've always wanted to be?

Melody took a deep breath, "Well, uhm...what's the name of the band?". Conan had a smile on his face, knowing that her question was her way of saying she'll give them a chance.

"Why Don't We."
