Third Person
Melody was laying in bed at Zach's house, watching a movie when Zach came back from what he called "work".
The boy noticed that lately, that's all she ever did, and he had to remind her to eat. She'd just lay in bed all day, watching old disney movies.
Was he concerned? Yes.
Was he going to mention it? No.Don't get him wrong, of course he wanted her to be okay. But the band had been gaining alot of popularity lately with the whole '#zelody' thing, and he didn't really have time to have full, deep conversation about how she was doing.
Almost everynight, she was asleep by the time he came home. But, on rare occassions he'd get there early enough to talk to his angel. This is one of those occassions.
And it also happened to be the day Melody had decided to tell him about what she was going through.
"Hey, baby." He smiled a little at her, kissing her forehead as he set his stuff down. "Hey," She sighed in response. She'd be lying if she said his behavior lately hadn't disappointed her.
He was still a great boyfriend, but he wasn't as amazing as he was before. She was just feeling like he chose to ignore all the conflicts their bond was facing, and it was causing the relationship to lack way too much communication.
"You okay?" He asked as he slipped into bed with her, noticing the sigh that came out of her mouth. The girl couldn't even start her sentence before he cut her off, "Wanna watch a movie?"
She frowned a bit. "Actually," She reached for the remote to turn the television off, "We need to have a talk."
The boy shakily inhaled as he grew nervous. He knew what was coming, he knew that she hadn't been okay lately. But he was terrified to confront it, not because he didn't want to help her, but because he was scared that he wouldn't know how. "Uhm, alright...What's up?" He said, his voice trembeling a little.
"I, uhm, I've just been going through alot...and a large part of it has been your fans." She hesitantly said, scared of how he'd react. The boy sighed, "MJ, I already told you, don't pay attention to what they say."
The girl frowned.
Was he really gonna defend his fans over me?
"Well, that's kind of hard to do when it's everywhere. I don't even have to try to look for it! Tiktok, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest- It's everywhere!" The girl slightly raised her voice. "Don't get worked up, baby, it's okay. I just don't want you to pay too much attention to it and let it get to you." He kept his voice calm, hoping it'd calm her down too.
But, all it did was make the girl feel like he didn't think it was a big deal. "Oh my fuck, is it not obvious that it's gotten to me? Have I not made it obvious enough? Or do you just not care?" She spat, not calming down at all.
Zach huffed, "Of course it's obvious. All you fucking do it lay in bed. My fans don't have control over your body, Melody Jane. If you really wanted to actually do something instead of just lay around, you would."
He may have seemed confident in his words, but in reality the only thing going on in his mind was, "Fuck. Fuck. FUCK."
"What, so you think it's my fault I'm depressed? You think it's my fault I'm like this? That I do it on purpose?"
"I literally never said tha-"
"I don't even care, Zach, just tell your fans to chill out. I didn't open up to you about this to be invalidated, I just need you to tell them to stop." Melody huffed, closing her eyes in attempt to calm down.
Their position had completely changed since the beggining of their conversation. It had started with his arm around her and her head on his shoulder. Now, if you walked in, all that could be seen is Zach sat up in the bad while Melody stood by the edge, ready to walk out of the door, as they were practically yelling at each other.
"I don't have control over them, I really don't know what you expect me to do!" Zach said, allowing the volume of his voice to raise a little more. "So, you're telling me you can't take one minute out of your day to simply type a tweet saying to leave me the hell alone?" She asked, opening her eyes as she only became more heated.
"No, I can't. It wouldn't do shit, Melody! Why would you even expect me to do that, me and the boys never even tell them to stop when they hurt our feelings." He shook his head, beggining to get off the bed.
Melody frowned and crossed her arms, "You did it for kay."
Zach froze in place immediately. He sat there for a few seconds, trying to gather his thoughts, but failing completely.
"She's different."
Melody's eyes were instantly filled with tears as she felt the back of her throat burn, almost feeling like she was about to throw up. "Oh." She said, barely above a whisper, as she uncrossed her arms.
Zach's eyes widened when he realized what he said, quickly standing up and grabbing her hand, "Shit, MJ, I didn't mean it like-"
The girl immediately pulled her hand back, flinching at his touch as she shook her head. "N-No, stay away from me, please." She sniffled as tears began streaming down her face. She quickly grabbed her keys and walked out the door, not caring how many times Zach called after her.
"No, Melody, please!", He chased after her until he grabbed her arm, making her turn to him, "You can't leave me!"
Melody winced at his grip on her arm as images of her last relationship came flying to her mind and she used her free arm to shield her face, she wasn't normally like this around Zach, but this moment was all too familiar.
A tear streamed down Zach's face when he realized what she was doing.
She thinks I'm going to hit her. She's scared of me.Zach immediately let go of her arm, not realizing how hard his grip was until after he let go. He wiped his tear, "Baby, I would ne-"
"D-Don't hurt me, just-just stay away from me!" She said before running out of the door.
Zach wanted so badly to chase after her, but he knew that she was scared of him at the moment, and he didn't want to scare her even more.
Melody got into her car and drove, not even knowing where she was going. She couldn't think straight. She knew she needed to get somewhere quickly before she crashed, she could barely even see the road from her tears. She resulted in pulling over in the middle of nowhere, and cried to the point where she almost couldn't breathe.
She didn't care though. It was almost like she didn't want to breathe.
