Third Person
It had been 2 weeks since Melody blocked Zach's number and deactivated her social media. They hadn't spoken or seen each other at all, but Daniel told her about his post. She had pretty much isolated herself from everyone; except Daniel, Ashton, and Conan.
She'd been staying in one of the spare rooms at Daniel's house, she had practically moved in. She spent all day everyday with Daniel, but the friendgroup didn't think anything of it as they knew the two had become very close during the months they knew each other.
It was day 16 of Melody's break, her and Daniel were watching Mulan in comfortable silence when suddenly Daniel started speaking. "Have you thought about maybe just messaging Zach once? You know, just to let him know you're okay." He asked her, reaching into a bag of chips.
She looked at him, "No, not really. I figured we need space, and if I text him once, I know i'll want to keep doing it. Why, has he said something to you?"
Daniel shook his head, "No, not exactly. He's just been asking about you, alot. I feel kind of bad, I don't want him to think I'm taking you from him."
"Well...yeah, I miss him too. It's just better this way. I'll message him soon." She shrugged, trying to push the memory of Zach gripping her arm out of her mind. Daniel snorted, "Yeah, the same way you said you'd be moving out of my house soon."
Melody laughed and threw a pillow at him, "Shut up, asshat."
"Come on, you need to eat some lunch." Daniel smiled as he started getting up. "I'm not even hungry," Melody groaned. She was only half-lying. She was hungry, she had just convinced herself she wasn't. Daniel shook his head, "Nope, not letting it slide. I'll order us tacos."
Melody sighed but smiled as she got up. "Alright, I'm gonna go get a shower." She yawned and grabbed the blanket she was previously using. Daniel nodded, "Alright, the tacos will probably be here by the time you're done."
Melody nodded before going upstairs and preparing her shower. As she was grabbing some clothes to change into, she heard her phone begin ringing. She looked at the caller ID and saw it was Jonah, she was a little shocked.
Not because her and jonah were on bad terms, but because she had made it quite obvious that she was isolating herself and refused to talk to anyone. But, for some odd reason and much to Jonah's surprise, she answered the call.
"Hello?" She said once she answered, a little nervous of how the call would go.
She heard Jonah's familiar voice boom through her phone speakers, "Hey, Mel. I, um, I just wanted to make sure you're okay. Daniel's been giving us brief updates but I guess I wanted to hear it from you. We all really miss you, and we love you."
She couldn't help but smile, "I miss you guys too. I love you, and I'm doing alot better."
Little did Melody know, Zach sat right beside Jonah as he had his phone on speaker.
Jonah looked at Zach with his eyebrows raised, asking if there was anything specific he wanted him to communicate to Melody. Zach mouthed his response, not knowing how Melody would react if she heard his voice.
"Have you been eating? I know your insomnia has been getting worse, have you been sleeping good?" Jonah asked as Zach rested his face into his hands. The fact that this was the first time he was hearing the girl tell him how she was doing in two weeks was definitely getting to him, and he wasn't even the one really asking.
"Oh, um, actually yeah. Daniel's been helping me eat, and he actually just ordered tacos. And I've been sleeping alot better, not the best in the world, but it's definitely still better." Melody yawned as she layed back in bed. She still planned on getting a shower, but she was enjoying their little conversion.
Melody hesitated as she finally asked the thing she's been wondering since she left, "How's Zach?"
Zach's head shot up when he heard his name, and if Jonah wasn't there he probably would've teared up. He couldn't believe she was asking about him, he couldn't believe she was even saying his name. He hated to admit it, but their time apart almost made him forget that she loved him.
"He misses you, alot. Sometimes he just goes quiet when we're all hanging out, he just stares off into space. He hasn't directly said it, but I can tell he's thinking about you." Jonah answers, not even looking at Zach for confirmation.
Melody felt a pull on her heart, the same pull she felt before they started dating. "I...I've been thinking about him too. God, I really...I really miss him." Melody felt tears in her eyes, realizing this was her first time saying it out loud.
Zach couldn't help but smile, feeling genuinely happy. "Well...hopefully you guys will be reunited soon." Jonah cracked a smile.
"Yeah, for sure. Well, I've gotta go get a shower before I eat dinner. Bye Jo! Thanks for the call, I enjoy hearing from you." Melody smiled as she got off the bed, grabbing her clothes again.
"Bye, Melly." He said his goodbyes with a smile before hanging up.
Zach immediately jumped up, "Holy shit! She thinks about me, she thinks about me!"
Zach ran to the kitchen, where the other two band members would be found eating chick-fil-a with Conan. "Guys, she said she misses me!" He beamed as he shook Jack's shoulders.
Jack groaned, "Jesus fuck, you're whipped."
Zach smiled and shrugged, "Ain't got no shame bout it."
"When do you think she'll be ready for a relationship again?" Conan asked as he dipped his fry in some ketchup.
"I don't know, but i'll wait. I feel like that call just recharged my happiness." Zach let out a short, happy laugh as Jonah entered the room.
"Yeah, mhm, you're welcome for being the reason that call happened, by the way." Jonah smiled and shook his head.
Zach turned to him and hugged him tight, almost as if it was her, "Thank you so much, Jonah. You don't know how much that meant to me."
Jonah smiled, "Yeah, don't mention it."
Zach smiled at him as he pulled away from the hug. "Sorry guys, I've gotta go." He announced as he picked his keys up off the counter.
Corbyn furrowed his eyebrows, "where to?"
"I feel like I'm walking on the clouds, no way I'm missing this song-writing opportunity."
And with that, he ran out the door.
