Third Person.
Zach knocked on the door to Conan and Melody's house, running a hand through his messy hair.
He had just came from the studio, wearing basketball shorts and a hoodie. He knew he wasn't dressed very well for the serious conversation he was about to spark, but he needed to speak to her as soon as possible and he feared that he wouldn't have enough time if he waited until later that day.
Confusion quickly grew on his face when a tall man opened the door, who looked to be about their age.
"Oh, Zach! I've heard alot about you, I'm jay." The boy extended his hand, and Zach hesitantly shook it.
"Conan isn't here right now, he's out of state for promo. I'll let him know you stopped by, though." He put on a fake look of sympathy and began closing the door again.
"Uhm, actually," Zach stopped him, "I'm here for Melody."
Jay furrowed his eyes in confusion but nodded, calling Melody's name. The girl soon entered the room, but she completely froze when she saw Zach standing at the door.
"Oh, Zach...uhm, hi." she rubbed the back of her neck, not moving from where she was standing. "Hey, MJ. I really need to speak to you," he glared at Jay, "alone."
Jay shrugged as Zach stepped into the house, "It's fine, I was leaving anyway. I'll message you, Melody. Bye." He smiled and walked out of the door, closing it behind him.
"Jay, huh?" Zach scoffed with jealousy evident in his voice and looked at her, only half joking. She rolled her eyes, not amused by his teasing. "What did you want to talk about?"
"Are you avoiding me" Zach asked, not being hesitant on the topic. Melody furrowed her eyebrows, pretending to be shocked even though she knew he was right.
She had not talked to him in almost two weeks, which may not seem like that long but is the longest they had gone without speaking. She barely even spoke to Conan and Ashton, the whole friend group was confused by her actions.
"I'm not avoiding you, Zach. I've just been busy. I can't spend every second of every day with you." The girl shrugged and walked towards their fridge, grabbing a bottle of water. Zach scoffed and crossed his arms, seeing right through her obvious lies.
"MJ, you've ignored all my calls, you haven't been speaking in the groupchat, and even Ashton said you've been dry everytime yall talked. Something is obviously going on, and you're making me think it's my fault. You've been like this ever since our kiss." Zach shook his head, trying his best to stay calm.
Melody huffed and her cheeks flushed at the mention of the intimate moment they had shared. "God, Zach, why do you even have to bring it up?"
Zach frowned as he became upset. "What, do you regret it?"
No, I wish I could do it again.
Melody pushed her true feelings aside and nodded. "Yeah, I do. Don't you?" She let out a cold laugh towards the end of her sentence and Zach felt a pain in his stomach.
"No, I obviously didn't. YOU kissed ME, Melody Jane. Not the other way around. You knew how I felt and you kissed me, you lead me on, when you knew you didn't feel the same"
Melody's heart broke as she was able to hear how hurt Zach was in his voice.
Why do I hurt everyone I love?
"We were both intoxicated, Zach. Our minds weren't sober, we couldn't think straight. It was just heat of the moment. I'm not letting this ruin our friendship." She shook her head. Zach scoffed, raising his voice a little bit, "I have no idea what we had going on, but it wasn't just a "frienship", Melody Jane."
"Yes, it was. I'm sorry that you assumed it was more, but I was never your girl, Zach. We were just two friends who got carried away one night. That's it. That kiss," Melody swallowed. "That kiss meant nothing. You need to accept that. I'm not responsible for your feelings."
"You think I can control how I feel? You think I chose to smile everytime you said my name or perk up when you walked in the room? Loving you never was in the plan. And, god, I wish I knew how hard being your 'friend' was before I started talking to you everyday." Zach choked out as he began walking towards the door.
"God, you're so selfish. You're ruining our friendship cause you can't push your feelings aside. Have you even considered my feelings? It's like you're too self-obsorbed to even imagine how I feel. No wonder your last relationship was so toxic, you can't even get yourself under control." Melody spat as she followed, almost shocking herself at the words that flew out of her mouth.
Zach turned around, looking Melody dead in her eyes with a drained look on his face. "No, you're selfish. You haven't thought about me at all this entire time. All those times we cuddled or flirted with each other, you were leading me on and you didn't even care. This whole entire time you've been saying you don't like me then doing something completely different with your actions. I've been considering your feelings this whole time. I asked if you were comfortable with everything I ever said or did to you. I cared so much about you, I stopped caring about my own feelings in the process, because I let you break my heart. And the worst part, the thing that hurts the most, is that you think I wanted this to happen."
"Zach, I'm-"
"Please, don't say anything else. I get it. It's such a shame girls like you don't know how to love, MJ. I try to give you my all, but it's not enough."
And with that, Zach walked out of the door, leaving a crying Melody behind.
