*six years later*

"Mitchell, do you have to bring that thing with you everywhere?" His father spits as they walk through the streets of the market, every one of their subordinates letting them through and bowing their heads.

"Yes." Mitch simply answers, not wanting to deal with his father. He points to one stall, where two little girls are sat weaving scrap pieces of leather, from the shoes and garments on display, into bracelets and necklaces.

"Could I have two of those necklaces and two bracelets, please?" He asks the women running the stall, who smiles generously, collecting them up and handing them over.

"Thank you. How much?" He smiles, running them through his fingers, testing they're quality.

"On the house, Prince." She beams. Mitch smiles, also, looking down, his cheeks flushing from the kind gesture. As he looks down, he notices that Jerome is not wearing shoes and remembers that his father wouldn't let him wear any and he also had his hands tied together. His father was cruel.

"I'll have a pair of your biggest strongest shoes as well then."

"Two gold please." She answers to that, passing the shoes over. Mitch hands over five gold pieces and ignores her protests against it as he kneels down at Jerome's feet.

"Mitchell, never bow down at an animals feet." His father booms, they've started to gain quite the crowd of commoners.

"I don't need shoes, biggums." Jerome protests, not wanting to cause a fuss.

"Yes, you do, biggums. Your feet are red raw." Mitch says as he lifts his best friends feet up and slips the shoes on. When he looks up, Jerome is smiling and he stands up wrapping the bracelet around his wrist and the necklace around his neck.

"Thanks." Jerome murmurs before being interrupted by a shout.

"Get him! He's an elemental!" Both Jerome and Mitch's heads snap around at the voice, both of them worrying that they were shouting at them but were met with two or three guards holding a boy a couple years older than them by the arms as he struggles to get away.

"Rob?" A voice comes from the side of the boys and they turn to see a boy, around their age, stood staring in disbelief at the guards, fear filling his eyes.

"Lachlan!", he shouts, "Run! Run and don't stop!"

The boy, Lachlan, turns and starts running away immediately being chased by a couple guards as people watch on, shocked but entertained looks on their faces.

"We have to help them, Mitch," Jerome whispers, "they're just like us."

Mitch nods, striding over to the guards, "Let go of him, now!"

"Mitchell, don't you dare!" His father starts walking towards him.

"Oh, shut up, father." The looks on people's faces are priceless and make Mitch want to start laughing.

"Now let him go!" His voice seems to echo around the place, "Your Prince, and heir to the throne demands you let go now!" He had never felt such power as he speaks, but the guards don't budge.

"I didn't want to do this!" He shouts as both guards start groaning in pain, clutching at their faces. Blood drips through their hands and onto the floor.

"Mitchell!" His father shouts.

Mitch turns around, his eyes fire red, "Don't come near me!"

Turning back to Rob, his eyes wide as he stares into Mitch's bright eyes.

"Come on." Mitch says turning and walking, followed by Jerome and Rob.

"Biggums, you've never done that before." Jerome gasps out.

"There's a first time for everything." Mitch replies.

"Get them! All of them!" He hears his father's voice behind him and they all start running, running in the direction of the wall.

They are soon met by a wall of guards so they have to take a detour over roofs.
Unable to get to the gate, Mitch shouts, "Biggums! Now would be a good time for some help!"

"Um, yeah, okay, uh. I, uh, I got this!" He shouts back, sounding so unsure about himself and no matter how hard he concentrates on the wall, nothing happens. They're heading straight for it.

"Don't worry!" Rob shouts, "I got us."

All three of them are lifted into the air by a big gust of wind as they fly over the wall and a good few hundred metres past it before plummeting towards the ground.

They manage to, somehow, land safely on the floor of the forest.

"I'm Mitch." Mitch introduces himself to Rob as they start brushing themselves off.

Rob laughs, "I know, I'm Rob."

Mitch laughs too, turning and searching for Jerome.

"Jero-oof" He shouts but is cut off by Jerome jumping on him from the trees above.

"I haven't been to the forest for years, biggums! This is amazing!" He enthuses, jumping up and into the nearest tree, swinging from one branch to another. Like he belongs, Mitch knew that beastmen like Jerome lived primarily in forests or jungles for their ability to climb trees was impeccable, it just so happened that Jerome was an earth elemental and could grow his own trees, which he saw as an amazing convenience.

"Do you mind if we go to this place just a couple miles away? I think that's where my friend might be." Rob asks, nervously shifting his weight from one foot to the other. Trying not to worry about the younger boy, who was like his little brother. He was probably at the clearing, scared for his life, trying to figure out how he's going to survive on his own.

"Yeah," Mitch says as Jerome flips out of the tree, landing on his feet next to the boys, "Is it that blonde kid? Is he like us?"

"Yeah. He's electricity, it's pretty cool."

"Really?" Jerome screeches, "My mum was electricity." His face suddenly falls at the memory of his mum, he hasn't seen her for seven years. They were really close and she was the one who taught him to control his power and taught him how to use it properly, which he obviously couldn't do since he had let his friends down greatly that day. If they got caught, it would be his fault and this meant that he was eternally grateful to Rob, for actually being good at something Jerome wasn't.

"Hey, biggums, don't be sad. Who knows, we might be able to go find your family now that we can't go back to the kingdom?" Mitch reassures, placing a comforting hand on his friends shoulder.

"But, what if they forgot about me?" He whispers, his eyes starting to fill with tears.

"You're not easy to forget, biggums."
