Sharuk was back with another piece of information for us as we waited with our bags and tools. He said that there's a leader/king of this village who would like to meet us. That king might even help us find our way back to the reality. Wow, what a nice king. Maybe he's a king because he is nice? Eh, who cares?
"But before that, let's get something to drink. My bottle is empty and so is Shanaya's stomach."
"You know how she changes when she is hungry." I said with a chuckle.
"Yes, we will. They also said they'll provide us something to eat and then take us to their leader. Wow, nice people back then in our ancient Greece."
"But I doubt why they are being so nice to someone who is alien to them." Shanaya wondered.
"Stop thinking with you goat brain and start accepting the fact that we are stuck here and we should find a way out soon. Come on, let's go." Sharuk guided us.
"So here's the plan. First, we'll find water, next we'll find something to eat, then meet the king and bham-back to reality! Okay Girls?"
"If only it was that easy." I sighed knowing it's going to be a tough life in here, coping up with their culture and also because I still can't understand the damn thing they are speaking. But Sharuk and Shanaya seem to get them and even converse back.
Why me? Why god why?
The village people were guiding us to a water source for us to fill our bottles and flasks. I hope the water is safe and hygienic. I cringed at the thought of having to drink them directly from river or pond without filtration. Maybe they'll show us a good place which already has water cans that are free from impurities and dirt.
Sharuk was walking in front of us while taking a look at the people who were coming along with us. Almost everyone from the site has been following us till now. Are we a human zoo?
Again, I don't care. All I care about to get back to safety and with my friends.
"Shanaya? Are you alright? You've been quite the whole time."
"Oh, yes. It's just I'm worried about this place. I don't feel good around these strange people. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but my mind is not here with me. I wish to get back soon, Lee. Mostly because I'm worried about my parents and also Ajay. They wouldn't know anything that happened to us. Especially Aadhil and Aditi will be hella confused since the people who were there the other night, goes missing for what? Years?"
"Oh come on honey, we'll get back soon and trust me we won't be stuck in here for years."
"Are you sure? Because it seems like that to me."
She motioned to the people around.
I couldn't say anything. I'm just as confused as her and also since we haven't figured the way to get out of here. This made me think about Varun-Poor him. I don't know how he is going to hold up. But I really hope he stays busy with his classes and doesn't miss me or worry about me when I'm here. Wish I could see him, so I thought to check my phone instead to look at our pics that we took a few days back. But I forgot I lost my phone. Dang it!
"Here girls, hold my bag."
Sharuk handed over his bag and tools to us as he went to fill our bottles. There was something like a water tank where people store the water. Thank god, it's clean. I saw shops around us that had meat, fruits and vegetables, poultry, grains- I think we are in a market.
There was something poking my right ankle, and I wanted to get rid of it as it kept distracting me.
"Shanaya, hold this for a sec-."
