The only way to survive is to break the Chain.
The chain in which Alia is caught right now. Alia- an archaeological student who ended up as the Queen of people's choice.
A normal student with attachment and trust issues, who doesn't give a shit ab...
I couldn't believe my own eyes. How can she be gone?
It's not possible!
HOW THE FUCK CAN SHE LEAVE US ALL!????
Tears brim my eyes as I kept staring at her, not blinking. I thought she might even disappear, if I blink. Because everything that has happened till now looks unbelievable to me.
How can I lose her!
I'm supposed to save her!
She was one of us!
What am I even gonna say to my friends after this?
I collapse on the floor, holding a pillar that's nearby to balance myself. My world was closing up on me. I felt as if someone was trying to pull my heart from the backside.
Words refused to be uttered.
Tears refused to fall.
Eyes refused to believe the sight in front of me.
Heart refused to realize she was long gone.
I watch Shanaya screaming at Alia, as she lay still. Nothing.
She keeps throwing tantrums like a child, asking Alia to wake up- she lays there still. Nothing.
Zoya rushes in and hugs Alia, as our friends join us in sharing the grief.
Rudra sits down next to me and places a hand on my back, reassuringly.
"Sharuk, Make up your mind... I know you guys were pretty close, but you have to. She's gone. None of your tears are going to make her come back to life, bro."
"But-how-ho-how can she leave all of us, just like that? Yesterday, in the same evening, we were all having fun. Don't you remember, Rudra!?"
"Bu-"
"Even, Shanaya and I argued, but then Alia was there to calm us down like she always does. Who is gonna come now? It's not just now, she was always there for us. Even though we spent little time after the graduation, she tried her best to be there for me and especially Shanaya. I don't know how she's gonna hold up this, bro."
"Sharuk. Calm down. You need to think practically. Yes, we all feel sad, because she's no more with us. But-what else can be done? You have to hold everyone together, like the pillar that you are."
Rudra's words gave me confidence and hope, but not enough to make me stop worrying.
Alia is Gone.
Another soul betrayed by their own people.
Anastasia walks in with teary-red eyes, on hearing the news about Alia. Watching everyone cry just makes me understand that this is all happening.
She really is gone.
Giatros leaves Alia's side to give my people some space to cry over her. He was about to make his way when I got up and ran outside the infirmary room to my chamber. I couldn't stand there, watching everyone bawling their eyes out.
I want some alone time. Some time to grieve. I want to find my happiness back and that's when a thought struck my mind.
BINGO.
My dog.
I found him in here, a few days back. He was so fluffy and cute, chubby fellow with cream coat. I usually don't like dogs, but this guy made me like him. I don't know what it is about him that made me take this decision, maybe because he used to follow me all day when I visit market for the surveys or for some other purposes. Initially, I didn't notice that he's been following me for a week or two. But I caught sight of the same dog, with a red cloth-tied around his neck. And that's when I knew we were going to be great friends in here.
From that day, I used to take him to all the places that I visit during the evening. It's like taking our dog for a walk. I brought him back to the castle and asked the guards to take care of him safely. To provide him with everything that he might want, because I don't know what kind of foods the dogs have in here. He has been my haven, apart from Ana. I've actually told no one about him yet. Maybe I should check on him.
That's when Giatros entered my room, with a solemn look on his face.
"What is it? If you have nothing that might save Alia, just go away. I don't have the energy to speak."
"I'm sorry, My Lord. We had the chance to save her."
That comment interested me.
"How?"
"I might know something that could've saved her life. But we didn't have enough time and as well as the materials that were required."
Is he joking? What could-possibly be not available in the DAMN KINGDOM itself.
He didn't want our guards to know about those, and so he whispered them to me personally.
As I was about to say something when I heard someone call my name.
"Sharuk!"
"What?"
"Sharukkk!!!"
"Whattt!!??"""
I turned around to see no one, but just a voice. Is this a goddess in the past, who's trying to talk to me?
"You idiot!"
I got smacked at the back of my head and fell down the stairs, rolling. It was only then I realized that everything was in my head.
A dream.
"Shanaya!"
"How long I've been calling your name, but your dumbass, but wouldn't just move out of the way."
How did I end up sleeping in here? IDK. Fishy.
"Shanaya!"
"What!?" she turned around, with a frown on her face.
"How is Alia?"
"That's where we were supposed to go, remember??"
"Yea, but..."
"I don't know how you ended up in here, if that's what you are asking. We were supposed to check on Alia and then inform our friends about everything, right?"
And that's when I knew what it was.
A vision.
I had a freaking vision.
"Shanaya, we need to hurry. Come on! RUN!"
I took her hand and together; we ran to save our friend forever.
