Third Person POV

Looking over the edge of the bridge that night with a million thoughts blowing around her head made the girl truly realize how deep she was in the darkness.

Everyone warned her to not get involved with that boy.

There were hundreds of warnings.

Though to her, his red flags appeared to be green.

Red had always been the girls favorite color.

He masked the bright color with a smile and a bouquet of flowers.

She knew better than to forgive him after the first mistake, yet she forgave him anyway.

Why?

Why would she?

He hurt her.

But he was familiar.

She was scared of the unknown.

So she stayed.

The longer she stayed, the more the green flags turned red.

She grew to hate the color red.

Buying only green apples in the store.

Burned all red shirts and pants she had owned.

All because of those stupid red flags.

Though the girl and no one to blame but herself.

   Who could she blame?

She chose to see the flags as green.

She chose to ignore all the warnings.

   She chose to stay.

Looking out along the sea that sat in front of her got her thinking.

One little step and everything would be over.

   No more red flags.

   No more fake smiles.

No more covering bruises with makeup.

    No more suffering.

Oh how one little step would solve all the problems that she had.

   Just one little step.

   She contemplated it.

She hadn't considered something so much before.

"Anna!" The man called from the side of the road.

The girl peered over her shoulder to see the route to all her problems.

A walking red flag.

He hurts her.

She wants out.

She is suffering.

"Get away from that edge!" He yelled out drunkenly, a bottle of whiskey hanging between his fingers.

The girl looked back out at the water in front of her.

One little step.

One little step would solve everything.

"Anna!"

One little step.

"Put that foot of yours down before you get yourself killed!"

"One little step." She mumbled softly, moving her foot forward.
