Dawn | chapter 5
"Minx saved you," Austin said slowly, "Practically. You are safe this round." I was stunned speechless. Again?
"What? I don't like these whores but I like this bitch." Minx said leaning back on her desk chair.
"Did you just- #savepractically is trending on Twitter, what the-" my eyes were wide as saucers. I brashly grabbed my phone from my desk and opened Twitter.

"Wait a minute, wait a minute," he said louder the second time. Still, Quackity didn't seem very amused. Was it because he was concentrating on making a decision or because Minx saved me when he was vividly fixed on eliminating me right then and there? "There."
"I am sorry but this is the end of the line for you," Austin started, "Boze. Congratulations, Autumn, you are safe for this-"
"What?" The American woman yelled. "Quackity, why? I'd take a bullet for you, I'd hide a body for you."
"You'd hide my fucking body too," Quackity joined in the bit. Everybody laughed, I mean, it wasn't far from the truth -bit-wise, if that's a thing, that is.
The next round's question was even harder to answer than the one preceding it. "How much would you say you love Quackity?" If I want to stay, I have to give the safest answer, but at the same time, I want to be honest. The question here is, which weighed more to me? Being honest to the audience, including Quackity, or winning this competition.
"I really can't say I'm all crazy for you or that I love you or something like that because I don't really know you," I began, "I know who you present yourself to be in your streams." In that moment, I made up my mind. I'll only be here once and this will probably be my only chance to say what I want to say to him before I return to my regular life -the one that didn't involve being particularly attached to anyone, feeling like I'm pouring my inner thoughts to a crowd of strangers, or being the center of attention of thousands of people at once. Back to the routine life that accepts boring ol' me. "But you could also be different off-stream -and I'm sure of that to an extent. All I can really say is that I am interested in getting to know you better." Winning Love or Host and being eliminated here wouldn't have much of a difference between them, it's not like I'd actually form any type of relationship with him if he chooses me while I chose love. They both end here, after today whichever happens, we'll only be back to strangers so it's better I make the most of it and actually communicate. "I-"
"Stop," he said in a low tone. It was unfamiliar and almost scary. He wasn't looking at the screen anymore, he was looking down and if my line of work didn't require intricate observation, I would have missed how he trembled in anger subtly.
An eerie silence engulfed the whole call, "Quack-" Austin tried to intervene.
"You keep talking like you actually know me," he said so fast but so clearly. "Who do you think you are? You think watching a few fucking videos gives you the right to tell me that, like you know who I am?"
