I sat in class drawing on a piece of paper waiting for the bell to ring so we could leave, soon the bell went, I grabbed my bag and my drawing, it was a drawing of mom,dad Carl and I , I meet up with Carl outside the class room as we start walking out the door towards mom, we wave at her with smiles on our faces, she looked concerned though, Shane starts walking over to mom as she kneels down as we reach her, she puts her hands on our shoulders as she whispers something that would change everything, "dad's been shot"

Tears start filling my eyes hoping she is joking, she hugs us as I can hear Carl crying, I remember I was still holding my drawing I had created minutes ago, she got up and held our hands on each side of her as we walked to Shane's car, I wiped my nose with my sleeve as tears slid down my face, my nose and cheeks turned pink as we got in the back of the car, I wiped my eyes and looked out the window trying to stop crying, I look over at Carl who's still in tears, I hug him "he's gonna be ok" I whisper as I hear him sniffle.

We get to the hospital, that car ride felt like it was going on forever, we got out of the car slowly as I took mom and Carl's hands as we walked in.
There he laid on the bed attached to an IV his chest bandaged up where he got shot, I felt hot tears roll down my face again as I squeezed moms hand, she was cry aswell, I hugged Carl as he started crying too, I couldn't stand to look at dad, it hurt to look at him seeing him like this.

After a while mom wanted to go, she wanted us to go to bed, Shane decided to stay at dads side, we walked out of the hospital, the sky was dark and full of stars and the moon shined brightly illuminating the car park, I shivered in my pink short sleeve shirt as my hair blew onto my face, I wiped my hair behind my ear as I opened the car door and climbed in, the car ride home was silent,a pin drop could be heard, I closed my eyes looking out the window, I slowly fell into a deep sleep trying to forget about the things that had happened today.
