"Hey!", A blueberry hit Marieke's forehead.
"You were doing it again!", Agnetha half laughed, half coughed.
"Doing what?", Marieke asked as she flipped the first batch of pancakes.
"You asked me to keep your mind of things, but you keep thinking up a storm."
"So you throw blueberries at me?", Marieke laughed too.
"The woman who gets mad when I let the kids play with their food a little." Marieke poured more pancake batter into the pan.
"Isn't there a saying, do as I say not as I do? Plus you did stop, didn't you?" Marieke laughed even harder as another blueberry hit her.
"I'm gonna start throwing back pancakes, if you don't stop, I swear." She threateningly lifted the pan off the stove.
"Oh, if that's what it takes to get breakfast around here I would have started throwing blueberries like 10 minutes ago.", she aimed at Marieke again, but didn't throw the blueberry yet.
"I don't know what has gotten into you, woman."
"It's the insanity you get from spending four days straight in bed.", she could hardly get in a laugh between the coughs at this point. Marieke was amazed, she hadn't seen Agnetha this giddy very often and she didn't think being couped up for four days was the actual cause. It was making up with Frida. But what did that mean, what had they talked about that made Agnetha this happy? Marieke felt a sting of jealousy in her chest, for which she immediately felt guilty. Agnetha being happy didn't mean anything more, than Agnetha being happy. Frida had said she wanted Marieke to be part of her happiness and there was no reason to doubt that. Another blueberry hit her. Marieke sighed.
"What? No protest?" Agnetha rested her head on her hands. Marieke transferred the last of the pancakes onto a plate as she said:
"No, I think I deserved that one." She walked towards Agnetha with the plate in her hands.
"Anyways, breakfast is served."After finishing her first pancake Agnetha put down her cuttlery and looked at Marieke.
"You know what, I just had an idea."
"Yeah? What's that?", Marieke replied.
"Well, actually I've been thinking about this for the past couple of days, but you know how we talked about you watching the kids when we have Björn's birthday party next week?", Agnetha paused for Marieke to reply, but with her mouth full of blueberry pancake she just nodded.
"Well, I think you should celebrate with us, instead. I mean, we'll figure something out with the kids and you deserve the fun night off! What do you think?" Marieke smiled at Agnetha:
"Thank you, that's very sweet of you. You, know I'm usually not one for going out, but I'd actually like that very much."
"Well it's settled then. I'll talk to Björn about it when they get back tomorrow morning." Agnetha took another bite of her pancake before continuing:
"But, while we're making plans. I still have some energy, any preferences as to how I try to keep you distracted? We're about to run out of blueberries so I need a new strategy." They both burst out in laughter again.
