Marieke didn't know what to reply. She was overwehlmed to say the least.  Did Agnetha actually believe she was doomed to be heartbroken? To Marieke it seemed that everything Agnetha did and said she said with a full and whole heart, not one that was shattered. Marieke tried to think of something, anything to say, but she couldn't stop thinking about her own feelings for Frida. What Marieke felt for Frida was a crush, an infatuation, a feeling that had the potential to grow into something much more profound. Something like what Frida and Agnetha shared. Marieke wondered how Frida felt. She had to be infatuated with Marieke too, otherwise nothing would have happened between them, but did she see this potential for growth? Marieke was still stroking Agnetha's hand.
"You did see us holding hands last night.", Marieke wasn't afraid of what would happen if Agnetha knew anymore. She wasn't worried about what anything would mean. Agnetha didn't reply, she still had her head rested against the tub, staring off into the distance.
"But Frida and I agreed that it doesn't mean anything as long as we're both happy." Marieke turned around to look at Agnetha.
"But seeing you like this and god knows what Frida is feeling like right now, doesn't make me happy. It makes me hurt." Marieke took a deep breath.
"I like Frida, I really do, even though I don't really understand it. But if me liking her, hurts someone, like it hurts you, I don't think it is worth it." Agnetha looked at Marieke puzzled:
"You mean?" Marieke nodded:
"I don't think you are doomed to be heartbroken, Agnetha. You may be heartbroken right now and I can't tell you if you will ever be with Frida, but I don't think you have to let her go to heal. You two love each other, even if it's just as friends, it's still love." Tears still continued running down Agnetha's cheeks.
"You deserve a full and whole heart and I don't want to take anything away from that. And neither does Frida, believe me." Agnetha grabbed Mariekes hand even tighter as she sobbed.
"Thank you." Marieke gently wiped away the tears from Agnetha's face.
"Now let's get you hair washed and I promise you will feel like a brand new person."
