The day ended with a vapid announcement from the office. "Do your homework!" and "Have a great afternoon!" The last bell rang as the announcements stopped and kids rushed outside in a rush to get home. Steve walked down the hall pushing through the crowd.
"Snowy?" He said over the sound of the crowd. Kids pushed and shoved their way out of the building, taking Steve with them. He fell onto the concrete and scrambled out of the way of the stampede.
"Where is she? I won't ride the bus alone!" He started back to school but was pushed out again and flung into the bushes. Kids poured out front like a herd of cattle. The thump of hundreds of feet hit the ground as they ran to their busses.
"Kid let's go!!" Another kid yelled and pulled him out of the bushes. Steve stood up confused. She had orange looking hair and pants with ripped knees. Her eyes were greener than Steve had ever seen on anyone.
"I'm waiting for my sister! Please let go..." The kid spun around, almost pulling his arm off.
"Bus! Now!!" The kid bolted to the bus, practically dragging him along the ground. She threw Steve onto the bus and the bus took off down the road. He ran to the back of the bus confused and in shock. Looking out the window he spotted her waving to him in the distance as she shrunk into nothing. He sat down in the back seat, nearly punching someone in the face.
"What was that all about?" Steve said to himself quietly. He shrugged and took out his phone and his earbuds listening to some music, still worrying about his sister. The bus flung down the street away from the school. He rocked in his seat as his favorite song took over his mind making him ignore everything around him. The bus faded out from around him and he flew through the sky with grey wings. The clean air blew through his hair in a light breeze. He closed his eyes as the music brought him to a cliff, the sunset over his home. Then suddenly his phone rang, sending his train of thought out of the music and off the cliff. Reality slapped him across the face and he opened his eyes, miserably picking up his phone. The screen had a picture of Snowy with her number displayed in different colors below it. The phone buzzed a couple more times before he picked up.
"Hello?" he said groggily. No one answered as static rang through his ears. He checked his signal and pulled his phone back to his ear.
"Snowy? Are you there?" Still static... then the call cut. The blood drained from his face as a rush of concern and worry washed over him.
"What is going on? It's only the first day..." The phone buzzed again and he practically jumped out of his seat. Pulling his phone out he instantly felt something wrong... something was completely different about the text.
13:45 PM
Steve
I'm following an odd person, that kid, the kid that had the blue sweatshirt. The blond one at lunch that was hit in the head with your apple and we all laughed at it. Yea him. Anyway I was walking down the hall in the 8th period and I noticed him walking into the staff room holding an odd looking stick that makes this weird buzzing sound and yea... I followed him.
He shook his head knowing how curious his sister was, then he became even more worried about her. He looked up from his phone a second and noticed people were staring at him oddly. Quickly he glanced down at his phone, ears turned red in embarrassment.
"Why do I have to be the new kid...?" He said to himself and continued to read the next text.
14:15 PM
So he just walked into Thé Park and I'm confused because he doesn't seem to care if he gets followed or not... Idk but, (if I'm not back by the time school ends just take the bus home.) I had one of my friends make sure that you get on the bus so if she rips your arm off that's the right person.
