Steve rolled onto his side and felt a warm blanket covering him. His hearing returned and he sprung up instantly looking around quickly. It was like reality had flooded his brain all at once and he could hear fire and sirens. Looking at his clothing he realized that he had burns on his clothes and the cuffs of his pants were ripped, showing his ankles. Slowly turning around he saw the house he was in moments ago in a bright red blaze. The stars in the night sky had been dimmed by the bright flare from the blaze. People ran around the house talking and glancing around the burning building. Confusion drowned out his thoughts as he threw the blanket to the side and ran to the house.

"What do I do now? Snowy's gone. I'm alone! People want to kill me... What do I-" A chunk of wood flew off the house and crashed into the ground next to him.

"And now my own home is trying to kill me." A couple people ran to him yelling and smothering him.

"You're okay! Your sister would have killed me if you had died." Steve recognized the voice then retaliated. She looked at him, still with her arms out. The girl was the same green eyed girl from earlier that had thrown him on a bus waving insanely.

"Who are you even if you hang out with my sister but you act like I'm your brother?" Steve said sharply, backing up a bit more. She put her arms on her hips and perked her lips.

"I'm your sister's friend Pricilla and she told me to look after you while she was gone." Steve kept his unimpressed expression, looking at her friends behind her, who blushed and giggled.

"Dear Asha. What is wrong with you?" Her friends laughed more and walked away.

"Honey, I'm just here to look after you. Okay? Plus you know what? I'm not fighting with a 5 year old. If you don't want me around, I'll just leave." Steve looked at her worried and confused. She rolled her eyes and walked to her friends bickering about him.

"I'm actually 8 you idiot! And I'm fine thanks for asking!" He yelled, coughing and hacking. He sighed and scratched his head looking back to his burning home. A pillar of smoke and ashes blew into the sky, blocking out the moon. He felt the heat radiating off the house and stepped back trying to get the smoke out of his lungs. Running to the edge of the forest he avoided people watching the house and watched the flames reach high into the air.

"I need to find Snowy" He said as he shuffled into the forest, using the moonlight as a light source. The blades of grass brushed his legs as he scratched up his exposed ankles making him itch. Steve stumbled over rocks and stumps dodging branches, his will kept him moving.

"I need to find my sister." He repeated again. He felt his brain start to wander as he slowly became exhausted.

"She has to be somewhere in Thé forest. She just has to be." He called out. The run for his sister went on for a couple more minutes before he collapsed on a shore of a small opening in the woods. The smell of fresh water reached his nose, calming him down a bit. He gasped once more and reached out a couple inches towards the shore, just sticking his fingertips in the frigid water. The water calmly moved with the wind and the trees did as well. Steve dazed off for a second letting his head slowly hit the sand. He instantly fell asleep again as the wind blew a nice pine smell across the lake.

Snowy awoke from her sudden slumber and casually stood up and played off what had happened. She glanced at her body quickly feeling the adrenaline in her body fade, seeing everything intact and unscathed. She looked around to her surroundings and stopped, noticing a pillar of smoke in the distance and a muffled cry of sirens in the distance. Her knees suddenly gave out from underneath her, sending her back down face first into the sand. In an attempt to stand she grabbed onto a nearby branch and hoisted herself up. Leaning on the branch and stepping around trying to wake herself up she noticed an opening in the woods a couple hundred feet ahead. Her legs ached as she wobbled over branches. The wind blew through the air filling everything around her with the scent of pine needles as the sun slowly arose in the sky. She settled in the opening setting her feet onto sand and collapsed in place. Water rushed over her hands as she sank to the sand feeling slightly stressed but too tired to care.
