Chapter 12: Vanilla Escape

 "Who in Asha are you?" One of the mysterious people helped Mine up while Steve glared at the other one. The people looked around in worry seeing their town in the state it was in.

"Well I'm the mayor of this beautiful town and this is my lovely assistant." The mayor was wearing a professional suit and tie and had his hair cut short and professional like the rest of him. Mine blinked a couple of times staring off into the distance but still paying attention. Crowds of people behind them went into a sudden panic spreading in all directions.

"We know that you too are not from here. So we are willing to do what it takes to save the planet if you know how." His assistant tugged at the sleeve of her long velvet dress. She showed Steve a slightly torn up and water damaged newspaper clipping of a missing report.

Missing Reports

Currently there are two citizens who are reported missing after the massacre that took place only a few days earlier. These poor souls are connected to the destroyer, and were taken hostage by them. Sunset is continuously searching for those who are missing.

"Are you Steve Nishi and Mine Mortemer?" The woman said in a slightly high pitched voice. Steve slowly backed up, scared and confused about everything that was going on.

"Mine, what day did we leave?" Steve took the clipping and stared at the date.

"Uhh... I believe it was the 11th when we left." Steve examined the article and with wide eyes, he turned to the Mayor.

"How did you know we were here?" The mayor turned to look at Mine and grinned. He pulled out another piece of paper which read.

|Two people by the names of Mine and Steve will appear in Vanilla 5 years 3 Months and 24 Days after the destruction of Sunset. Mine will be wearing a blue sweatshirt with an M logo and black shoes. He will also have dirty blond hair and blue eyes so keep a lookout. Steve will be wearing a red shirt and Light blue jeans and will also have brown hair and hazel eyes.. If you find them they will know the answer to all of your questions.|

Steve handed the paper to Mine who stuffed it in his right pants pocket.

"Well that is officially..." Mine said swiping his remote across the surface of the paper. The assistant gave him an odd look and turned towards the crowds of panicking people.

"I have matters to take care of in this time of need. We need your help, Mine. You are known around the universe as the savior of worlds from Misty Falls to Sunrise." Mine looked up quickly in surprise.

"There are legends of you saving multiple planets with amazing efficiency. Please... just please save us. Vanilla is the 2nd oldest civilization in the solar system and we cant end now." Mine nodded, unable to see still but understood. The mayor nodded and put his hand out to shake.

"We are counting on you and your friend here." He smiled and shook Mines hand. Steve shook the Mayor's hand also and he took off down the street with his assistant into a crowd of people. Steve turned towards Mine wondering what to do next. Mine closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and started walking towards the massive chasm. Steve's eyes widened and he ran after Mine, clomping behind him. The ground suddenly shook under their feet once again throwing them both to the ground. Mine stood up and brushed himself off, still heading where he was before. He rubbed his eyes, gaining his sight again, studying the rock at his feet as he walked. Steve watched him as he stood right next to the edge of the hole as he studied everything that he could. Steve slowly stood up and watched him for a minute not noticing a large chunk of concrete slowly rolling off of the roof of the building behind Mine.
