The last few days have not been easy for Kala. A leopard killed her infant. She knew her mate was just as devastated as she was, and she just couldn't shake the fact that her infant was gone.
Kerchak is the leader of the pack. He has to take care of his family. Seeing how close the leopard was to his family. He made the gorillas move to a safer, secluded place.
Kala was still in mourning and just followed them from behind. Everyone heard the news and didn't disturb her.
Right now, they are all traveling over a cliff. The fog was thick enough to see the mountains, but barely. Kerchak would look behind to see if Kala was not too far off.
Kala glanced down at the floor and mindlessly followed the troop when suddenly she heard a strange cry.
She's never heard of this sound before. She shook her head to ignore it. Who knows if it's just a trap to lure her into danger? She huffed and kept walking.
The loss of her infant must be getting in her head, and she grudgingly went forward. But every step she took made it heavier to do so. She glanced behind her and stopped.
What if it wasn't?

Kala ensured the troop didn't look back for her as she ran to find the cry. She looked around and got worried. The cry was getting louder. She must be close.
Kala ran without caring what was in her way. She stopped and evened her breathing after running so long. She noticed wood chopped to make a bridge. Her eyes followed the path and spotted a treehouse.
It looks crafted. Were humans here? If so, she can't go any further. But her curiosity was getting the best of her, and she cautiously walked in.
It took her a while to climb up the tree. She sniffed around and found nothing in particular that could endanger her.
She spotted a wall open slightly and lightly pushed it ajar. The cry was gone. The small wooden cave was trashed, and strange objects were destroyed everywhere.
Kala didn't see any humans, but that didn't mean she could lower her guard. She cautiously walked inside, taking in the place. She had missed walking over a rifle.
She stopped when she saw two humans lying behind the wooden table. Her eyes widened as she saw bloody footprints...Leopard's bloody footprints.
She took a few steps back in fright when she heard something break beneath her. She noticed a small photo of a male, a female, and...an infant. She assumed the male and the female were the ones on the floor. But where's the infant?
Kala stopped when she heard whines from the back of the room. Something was well hidden behind a box and curtains. She hesitantly walked over and frowned. She saw a creature underneath a blue blanket, moving and crying. Her head tilted in curiosity, and she removed the blanket.
