Brook pants and gasps as the panther were gaining on her. The branches would scratch her on the way but she ignored it. She could hear the thumps it makes as it teased her.
It was playing with its prey!
Brook heard it snarl loudly and she was on the floor. She screamed as the panther buried its fangs on her skirt, dragging her towards it. Using her fingers, she tried crawling away but the gloves wouldn't let them happen.
Brook felt a heavy weight on her chest and saw the panther on top of her baring its fangs on her as she screamed.
She shut her eyes, waiting until she was ripped to shreds when the weight disappeared. She refused to open her eyes but she was curious about what was happening as she kept hearing a low growl and huffs near her. Was that–Was that a gorilla?
She hesitantly opened her eyes and gasped.
A tall tanned man stood in fours in front of her. His long brown unruly hair reached his shoulders. She lightly blushed in embarrassment as he only wore a thin loincloth on his waist.
He didn't have anything on him! She looked around and scooted back against a tree. She stopped as she heard him grunt. Her eyes snapped up as he wrestled the panther to the ground.
Her breath hitched as the panther successfully scratched the man's back. She trembled as the man threw it away from him and pants, holding his back in pain.
She suddenly caught a glimpse of her father on the ground where the man was and gasped.
"No...not again..." She shakily sat up. It grabbed the panther's attention and ran back to her.
She gasped and tried to run but her ankle exploded in pain and she winced. She must have awkwardly fallen on it.
The man noticed this and ran to the panther, grabbing its leg and throwing it out in the clearance. With no time to waste, he bolted to Brook and carried her bridal style as the panther chased after them.
Brook's eyes widened as the man was willing to save her. She noticed that he started climbing on the trees and wrapped her arms around the man's neck. The man now only had a strong arm wrapped around her waist as he swung a vine with the other.
Brook looked down and saw the panther gaining on them. She looked back at the man as he swung to a higher tree. He landed and leaned against the stem. He didn't let go as he placed a hand on her mouth and leaned her back on his chest and his other arm around her stomach.
Brook held her breath, as though it would let the panther discover where she was. The man tensed as he saw it crawling around looking for them. He looked down at his waist where he kept the spear he used to kill Sabor earlier.
The man looked down at the shaking creature and turned it around. Blue-green eyes met gold. He was entranced by their eyes. The only time he saw golden eyes was from a lion.
