Chapter 18

"What are you waiting for?" Hyeri asked, looking at me.

We were outside in front of TaeDo high after school. There was something weird that I didn't want to face. But I had to...because it was important...and it could have a huge impact...

"What am I going to say?" I asked, looking at her.

"You'll know when you see him," Hyeri said, pulling me up the steps. When did Hyeri suddenly know all of this? She was never really into relationships before...but I guess she changed when she met Taehyung.

Hyeri found both of them sitting under a large tree.

"Taehyung!" Hyeri yelled, running to him.

Taehyung looked surprised as he stood up to hug her. "What are you doing here?"

"I brought...Jieun..." she said slowly.

Taehyung looked at me with dark eyes. Jungkook didn't move.

"Let's go..." Taehyung said, pulling Hyeri away. Hyeri gave me a thumbs up sign and then left.

"Oppa?" I asked, looking at him. He was laying on the floor with his head on his backpack. His arms were folded beneath his head.

He didn't answer me. What am I supposed to do now?

"Oppa?" I asked again, kneeling down in front of him.

I wonder if he's ticklish...

I touched him lightly on the stomach and saw him twitch.

"Oppa...wake up..." I said, starting to tickle him. He didn't move.

Okay...so he isn't ticklish. Well...if you can't beat them...then join them right?

I leaned down right next to him and grabbed his hand. He didn't move. ...

I closed my eyes for a while to see if he would do anything. When he didn't, I opened them up again and sat up. This wasn't going to work.

I slowly leaned closer to his face. I could hear his soft breathing. I leaned a little closer and kissed him softly on the cheek. His eyes suddenly opened. He looked at me surprised and shocked.

"What did you do that for?" he said angrily as he suddenly sat up feeling his face.

I just sat there in front of him. "You wouldn't get up when you were already awake."

He stiffened.

"What do you want?" he asked.

His tone...was harsh...

...

"Oppa...are you mad at me?"

Jungkook looked away.

"Oppa..."

He looked back at me. I took that as a yes.

"Jimin is my...really good friend," I said. "We've known each other for a very long time. You're mad because of that right?"

He suddenly shook his head no. ... No? Then...why...?

"Why are you mad?" I asked, looking at him.

"Because I wasn't there to save you," he said, looking straight into my eyes.

...

He was mad...about that?

"Oppa..." I started, but then stopped when he just reached out and hugged me tightly.

"Jieun ah...be careful..." he whispered.

"I know Oppa..." I said as I rested my head against his shoulder.

We stayed like that for a long time. It felt good...to be in the arms of someone that you know you could trust and protect you.

"Lee Jieun!"

I turned suddenly to see Hyeri and Taehyung right behind me.

"How long are you guys planning to stay like that for? It's already been half an hour," Hyeri said, looking at her watch. Taehyung was behind her smiling.

Half an hour?!

I looked at my watch. It had only been ten minutes.

"Hyeri ya...stop lying," I said smiling as I stood up. Jungkook stood up and brushed off the dirt.

"Why don't we go get something to drink?" Hyeri asked, looking at her watch. "You don't need to be home until six right?"

I nodded and looked at Jungkook.

"Do you want to go?" I asked.

He picked up his backpack and grabbed my hand. "Let's go then."

We spent the rest of the afternoon at a small dessert place and then went to the arcade just to play some games. Taehyung walked Hyeri home and then Jungkook followed me.

"Jieun..."

"Hm?" I asked, looking at him as we walked.

"Be careful please...if they ever bother you...tell me first," he said, looking at me.

I nodded. He leaned forward and gave me a small kiss on the forehead. I felt my face heat up and I was glad it was dark because then he wouldn't be able to see.

"Go in," he said, nodding towards my house.

I nodded and said bye.

This is a new side of Jungkook I didn't see before.

I kinda liked it.
