🌅There were only a few times Rowan felt complete and utter disappointment in her short years of life. When Rafe, decided to go out of town to get a new watch for himself on they're one month anniversary instead of spending time together.....Disappointment.
When her father, told her she would mount to nothing if she kept hanging with people who would only drag her down and that she should stay away from them.... Disappointment.
When the coffee machine broke at John B's and she was left without her caffeine fix for weeks until she could afford to buy a new one. Utter chaos and disappointment.
As they look at the empty mess of the wreck in front of them, she could add right now to that list of things and put it right at the top of it.
There wasn't anything in the wreck of the ship. Nothing but fish and old and decaying wood. It was empty. Completely wiped of any remains of gold. Nothing to validate the wild goose chase they've been on since after the damn Hurricane.
Was this really all for nothing? Had they been wrong? Did someone beet them to the punch? Or was it never there to begin with? All questions were plausible and were most likely to be answered with disappointing solutions.
Thunder mixed with the silence of the defeated Pogues as JJ turns the boat around. Rowan looked towards John B, who looked utterly defeated. She bit her cheek as she walked over to him. He looked out into the water. Not even turning his head to look at her. She wrapped her arms around his waist and he didn't do anything to stop her.
"Hey." She said. He then looked down at her. "I'll go into town and pick up a few things. I'll come back to your place after and we'll hang. Just the two of us."
John B gave her a mute nod and that was enough for Rowan.—
Dressed in her regular jean shorts and a red tank top, Rowan browsed the snacks options at one of the shops in town. Her backpack hung lightly on her shoulders and her red tinted sunglasses created a filter over the store.
To say red was one of her favourite colours would be an understatement. Everyone knew it was her colour and she wore it with pride. She grabbed a bag of popcorn and a few candy bars and decided that was enough and went to pay. Lucky she had just enough to cover it and then when she was done, she headed out the store.
"Oh, shit, sorry." The soft voice of a female stopped her walking. Shaking her head, Rowan looked up and noticed who she bumped into.
"Sarah Cameron." She muttered. The blonde rolled her eyes.
"Rowan Heyward." She countered. "I'll just be going."
"Wait," Rowan said, before she could even stop herself. Thanks to her dating Rafe, despite the classes that split the island in half, the two had kindled a friendship that one might consider a decent one. But since they broke up, she hasn't even thought of Sarah Cameron. And despite the ending of her relationship with John B, after that they still were close. Well, used to be.
"What?" Sarah asked, holding her bags on her arms. A look of slight annoyance etched her perfect face. Rowan was almost jealous.
"I don't know. Sorry. I just—"
Before Rowan could say anything more, a Loud thud sounded from behind the two girls. With wide eyes, Rowan and Sarah rush over towards it.
"John B?" Rowan asked, raising a brow at the sudden appearance of her boyfriend who was supposed to be waiting for her back at the château.
