When Izuku fell asleep that night, he soon opened his eyes again as he felt like he was falling. Turns out he was falling, falling down a very deep hole with no sign as to when he would reach the bottom. He felt as if the falling went on for hours as his mind slowly wondered. The hole began to gain more light and he began to see paintings on the walls, teacups and toys floating in the air as he fell past, and still saw no end to the fall. Until without warning, he stopped! He had reached the bottom and was standing on the floor with a small door in front of him with no other way in or out.
He wandered around the room and the only other thing there was a rather large table. So he did what any adventurous kid would do and decided to explore and climb up it to the top. After many attempts he victoriously reached the top and saw a little plate with cookies that said "eat me." So, of course he ate one and put another in his pocket for later. Next thing Izuku knew, he had shrunk to half his size and slide down a table leg to try and go through the door as he had no where else to go. He was scared and confused but it reminded him of his and Kacchan's talks of going on adventures and wanting to be brave. After all, how can you be a hero if you aren't brave? So he marched up to the door and did the only thing he could think of and knocked on the door. So imagine his surprise when it flew open with no one on the other side to have let him in.
Although confused, he just shook his head as someone from afar could have opened it with their quirk such as telekinesis like his mother does whenever her hands are full from going grocery shopping. He was sad however because he wanted to meet who had let him into the amazing new world that stood in front of him. His jaw dropped to the floor in awe as he took it all in. All around him stood tall trees and flowers as far as he would see, he was in a wild forest with hopefully many friends to soon meet. But the strange thing about it was that it was alive! The flowers were singing and the tree was swaying along to their music! He began to happily dance along and skip closer to hear their music better. Soon he saw grasshoppers playing on blades of grass like a fiddle and beetles banging on their bellies for drums. Even a big blue caterpillar singing in a real low voice and blowing on a pipe with colorful smoke.
Izuku watched this scene take place before him in awe but before he could watch any further, a wind began to whisk him away! He flew back towards the door he had just entered and repeated his journey through the mysterious tunnel. Only this time going up instead of down. As he saw this wondrous land disappear before his eyes, the light above him increases until he found him self in bed and realized it had been a dream. But this dream had felt so much more real than any he had ever had before. But despite Izuku's disappointment and wanting to continue his dream, he got out of bed with a smile and began his day.
The next night he was very eager to see that magical land and closed his eyes right in anticipation. He fell asleep once again, but this time was much quicker. He climbed the table with ease and ate the cookie without hesitation. He slid down the now huge table leg and knocked on the door. He heard the forest playing the same song as before and decided to go in a different direction. He wondered around until he heard a new group of critters singing about a tea party. They introduced themselves as the Mad Hatter, March Hare, and the Mouse. They had a lovely time together but far too soon a gust of wind took him away once more. His weekend was up and it was time for school.
He couldn't wait to tell Kacchan all about his amazing dreams and quirk! Inko quietly giggled at her son's endless energy as he bounced in his seat as he ate his breakfast and babbled about his dream in a place he dubbed as Wonderland. Discovering his quirk over the weekend had been crazy for her but she was happy for her son. However, her son has always had an amazing mind, both analytical and creative, and she worried how it will effect his interactions with the other kids. He has plenty of energy but at times he is simply too smart for his own good and his mumbling habit he has gotten from her would scare a few away. Luckily for them both, Mitsuki's son Katsuki was not afraid of anything as he loved to boldly claim for all to hear! Luckily the pair are best friends just like their mothers had hoped.
Once Izuku finished breakfast and had his preschool uniform on, he rushed to the car with his trusty backpack on. Mama Inko made sure he was buckled in and then they were on their way. Inko dropped him off at school and let him go only after receiving three big kisses and a hug, not that Izuku minded. He practically ran into Kacchan as he gave his best friend a hug and began mumbling on and on about his quirk. Little Katsuki was used to this but Izuku was so excited that he only managed to make out ...got quirk ... dream ... wonderland ... heroes together... before he flicked Izu on the head to get him to slow down.
The rest of the day was spent with the aspiring heroes talking about special attacks and which hero would beat who in a fight. They have so much fun together that when their moms came to pick them up, they don't want to separate. They hugged each other super tight so they wouldn't be separated, so Mitsuki picked both of them up at once and carried them to Inko's car. The two mother's laughed at their boys' stubbornness and drove to the Midoriya's apartment for a sleep over.
The boys raced out of the car claiming to be faster than All Might and ran all the way up to Izuku's room. Inko and Mitsuki just laughed after having seen them do this many times before and sat down on the couch and began to catch up with one another. They continued to talk until an hour or so before dinner when they heard a scream! Not a scream of shock or surprise, but of pain. And it was coming from Izuku's room!
The two woman rushed to the boys to see Izuku curled in a ball screaming and whimpering about his back hurting. Katsuki had tears in his eyes that he refused to let fall as he held on tightly to Izuku's hand. Inko quickly but carefully removed Izuku's shirt to see blood on his back as little black feathers pocked out. The doctor was wrong when he said Izuku wouldn't feel much pain. He was very wrong. Inko rushed her baby boy to the hospital leaving two shell shocked Bakugos behind.
Inko used her telekinesis to grab her keys and purse as she ran to the car with a sobbing four year old in her arms. The drive to the hospital took 15 minutes but to her as a mother took more like 4 hours. Most likely breaking several speeding laws on the way, she grabbed her sobbing child as carefully as she could before sprinting inside begging for help. Several people halted to a stop as they say the little four year old whimpering in pain with a bloody back.
Several nurses run to Midoriya's aid and place him in a hospital bed on his stomach. They quickly pump some pain meds into his system and not too soon after, a doctor walks in to examine him. "Will he be okay doctor? At the quirk specialist they told us he would grow wings but they said it wouldn't hurt him!" The doctor was quick to reassure her and told her that Izuku simply needed a little help for his wings to grow in much less painfully.
After a quick surgery, Izuku had two small slits cut into his back to help his feathers grow through without cutting through his skin on their own. He was given some pain medication to take for the next week or two until his wings had fully grown in and excused from preschool until then. Two weeks and one doctors appointment later, Izuku was back and better than ever. And no one was more happy to see him than Kacchan. For the next few months they were even more inseparable than before and practically glued to one another. They calmed down over time but always remained best of friends!
