By the time Izuku and Katsuki turned seven, all they still ever talked about is quirks and learning how to improve their own. Today was no different, school had just ended and their moms let them walk home by themselves as long as they stuck together. They lived in a relatively safe area and had never been put in danger before. There was not much need to worry as they only live ten minutes from the school.
As the boy's quirks grew, they discovered new things they could do. Thanks to Izuku's analysis, Katsuki had learned bigger explosions aren't always better and began practicing more continuous smaller attacks instead. He had learned his limits and would try different techniques to not strain his arms. He also worked extremely hard on maintaining strong arm muscles through exercise instead of leaning too much on quirk alone. However, their mothers never let them train too hard as they were still only elementary schoolers.
Izuku on the other hand had learned about his quirk through many minor injuries on how not to fly. Very few heroes with wings existed so he studied birds and their flight patterns instead. As for the mental side of his quirk, practice was a bit different. He continued to dream of them every night but it wasn't until around his sixth birthday when things changed. His Wonderland friends began to follow him back to his world instead of staying in the dreamland as he had learned all the ins and outs of their world and them. He could read all of them like an open books and they could do the same with him.
His chaotic friends began to follow him everywhere but only he could see them. So when people claimed they were imaginary, but while they weren't technically wrong, they weren't right either. Katsuki was the only one who would believe that they were real and always remained by his side. By now, Izuku had entirely filled five notebooks, completely dedicated to Wonderland and described them with so much detail, there was no way they were made up. He had another two as well that was full of sketches and details of places they had been to and adventures they had gone on. But while Katsuki believed his best friend, as did his parents, Inko refused to believe her son.
Inko loved Izuku but seeing as how Katsuki was his only friend, she worried Izuku had created these characters to cope and prayed he would grow out of it. She knew his quirk created Wonderland but she believed what went on up in her son's head stayed there. She, like all the others, had brushed his words aside, ignoring the fact that he was one of the most honest and trustworthy kids around. She knew he was harshly teased for it as well but still would not believe him or stick up for him in front of the other mothers and children.
So as the two boys walked home from school, they decided to detour when they hear news of a nearby villain attack. Both their okka-sans would always scolded them for running towards danger instead of away, but that's what heroes do! They needed the practice for when the real time comes. They had never been injured before, so why would this time be any different? The villain the heroes were chasing had given them the slip and he saw the boys as perfect hostages. This villain's quirk gave him the ability to paralyze its victim as long as they were touching. Katsuki turned around just in time to see the villain grab Izuku and was too late to stop him. He couldn't use his quirk out of fear of hurting Izuku and Izuku was in too much of shock to activate his time quirk.
Izuku looked around frantically for help but no one knew how to react. The heroes were disgusted that a villain would stoop so low but were afraid any actions from them would cause him to freak and injure the boys. Everything was at a stalemate. Until a misty cat with a crescent moon shaped grin flew in out of nowhere. He teased the villain and taunted him for being so weak as to use children as protection. The man became so enraged he took his hands off the boys and attacked. But a single moment was all the mysterious cat needed to whisk both boys away.
The boys reappeared on the other side of the alley with Izuku in Katsuki's trembling arms. Being exhausted by the sudden adaptation of his quirk, Izuku fell unconscious. All witnesses looked around wondering who could have saved them but their questions remained unanswered. Seeing their chance, the heroes were quick to arrest the villain. A medic nearby made sure both boys were okay and then sent a hero to walk the two scared seven year olds home. With one still knocked out and the other in near tears, the underground hero Aizawa carried them both with a soft sigh.
Aizawa quietly walked to the address the blond boy had stuttered out and knocked on the door the kid told him to go to. A older female version of the boy opened the door, "There you boys are!" She paused as she realized the boys weren't alone and one wasn't even awake, "Who are you!? What's wrong with Izuku!?" She fired off as Aizawa handed the boys over to her. "I'm the hero Eraserhead, my guess is your boys were headed home from school when the villain we were chasing grabbed them. They are okay, the paramedics already checked them over. Just a bit shook up is all." "Well I'm Bakugo Mitsuki, thank you for bringing them home safe!" Aizawa just nodded and walked away with a tired sigh ready to go to bed and sleep the rest of the day away.
