The fight made life worse for Izuku. It wasn't that his mother hated him after that but she was never the same after either. He was different too and his father wasn't happy at all when he received a frantic phone call from Mitsuki about Izuku staying with her after a fight. Inko no longer attempted to hide her looks of fear when around Izuku and while it hurt it wasn't as bad as her newer habits of constantly overworking and never being home.
He no longer received hugs after school or a simple good night before bed because she wasn't around. The fridge was always stocked and Inko would leave notes with food cooked for him but it wasn't the same. He tried to not let it bother him but as he spent more and more time with Katsuki, Mitsuki noticed and wasn't happy about the truth.
His aunt and uncle practically took over as his mother and father but no would ever replace Hisashi. So in a way he now had three loving parents but all he really wanted was his mother back. He missed the days of the two of them staying up on the weekend to watch All Might movies all night and cooking meals together even though he was a terrible cook. Because of this, he mainly stuck to baking his mother surprise desserts after a long shift or a simple meal like ramen noodles. Izuku wasn't sure if he would ever get that version of his mother back and wasn't sure how much more duck tape he could use on his heart before it fully broke. He just wanted her to wrap her arms around him and love him as he cried but she wasn't even home to see him falling apart at the seams.
By now he was eight, nearly nine, and most kids his age only had to worry about when the homework due instead of if they would see their parent again soon. It was Friday afternoon when Izuku's father called like he did every week when the door opened and Inko walked in the door. Izuku stays in his room and talks for a while as the now foreign sounds of someone in the kitchen sound through the hallway and to the open door of his room. Eventually his father had to go to work and apologized for having to go. Izuku promised him it was okay and was just happy to have gotten to talk to him and suddenly it was just him and his mom in the house together. It was like he had wished for for weeks but now he was scared. His palms were sweaty and his throat tight as his mind went back to his mother's recent actions near him. Shaking his head, he slowly gets off the bed and silently walks into the kitchen.
Izuku quietly walks past the kitchen and sits on the couch in the den. He can feel his mother's eyes staring into the back of his head and he forces himself to look right back at her. He immediately regrets it as he hates to emotions shining in his mother's eyes and looks away. "Your father called me earlier this week." Inko said quietly, but loud enough for Izuku to hear. Izuku cleared his throat and wiped his sweetly palms on his pant legs, "What do he say?" "Mitsuki told him about how often you've been at her house and he wanted to know why that is... so now your father is mad at me claiming I have been neglecting you... do you want to tell me why he thinks that Izuku?" Izuku looked back at his mother when she said his name and he gulped as she aggressively chopped up the vegetables on the cutting board.
"I didn't tell them anything... I just said you had been more busy with work lately is all..." Izuku mumbled, not wanting to anger his mother. "You're mumbling Izuku! Honestly come over here so I can at least here you if you aren't going to speak up!" Izuku shrinking into himself at this statement and shuffled quickly to the other side of the counter his mother was currently preparing dinner at. "I said I didn't tell them anything, just tha you've been busy with work mama..." "Oh grow up Izuku! You are too old to call me mama any more!" Inko harshly reprimanded as she slammed the knife she was using to the cutting board. Izuku flinched at the sudden movement and noise and Inko moved to be directly in front of him. "Ever since you've gotten your quirk, I have tried my best to support you but all you do is make me out to be a bad mother!" "I... I'm sorry..." "Oh so now you're sorry!? You've turned both my husband and best friends against me and you're just sorry!" Inko was so mad she was practically spitting in Izuku's face and Izuku was doing everything in his power to not give his mother the satisfaction of seeing him cry.
"How-" "Shut up!" Inko had turned around to walk off when Izuku tried to speak again and swung around to yell at him. However, her sudden turn caused her flying hands to fly across Izuku's face and the force threw him into to the floor. He hit his head on the counter corner on his way to the floor and he backed away from his mother as she gasped and tried to help him. "Don't touch me..." He said in a small voice as he dashed off to his room as quickly as he could dispute the dizziness he felt. Sobs racked Izuku's body as he shook and held a hand to his head. A small amount of blood was running down his head but he was too upset to really notice. He cried himself to sleep as he had done on several nights before and dreamed away in Wonderland. His friends did their best to cheer him up and forget the world where his mother was no longer around and his father was too far away to truly comfort him like he wanted but knew he would wake once more to any empty home.
