Inko and Izuku's relationship slowly drifted apart as Izuku spoke to her less and less. Try as he might, he didn't feel he needed any more friends besides Katsuki and everyone in Wonderland as at school he was slightly bullied for his "imaginary" friends. He never told others about them except the Bakugos but kids at school would still overhear their conversations and tease him for it. He was called crazy and a baby and told to grow up but Izuku refused. All he needs is his kacchan by his side as ever since that night he had accepted the fact that his mother would never believe him. She still believed in him, just not the ones who made him who he was as a person. A few months had pasted since that night and Inko had just finished talking to his father on the phone.
"Here is your father Zu," Inko said with a sad smile as she handed him the phone and walked out of his room. "Hey champ, your mom says your struggling to make more friends at school... do you want to talk about it?" His father asked in a voice full love and concern for his kid. "I'm good!" Izuku said dismissing his father's comment and laughed as his father sputtered on the other side. "That's... that's not ... bud...but your ma told me..?" "Papa I'm happy with Kacchan as my friend, he's all I need..." Izuku said happily but trialed off as he remembered he shouldn't talk about Wonderland any more. "I'm not so sure I believe you kid..." His father said, pressing for answers but still leaving him an opening to say no if he didn't want to discuss it.
"It's just... mama doesn't want me to talk about them- it!" Izuku rushes to fix his mistake but his father picks up on the slip of tongue immediately. "Them? Are you talking about your misty cat friend and all your other wonder buddies?" Hisashi asks curiously as he realized Izuku hadn't talked about them in a while. "No..." Izuku said softly as his eyes begin to water up. "I won't tell your mother if you don't want me too Izu, heroes honor!" His father promised and got a giggle out of Izuku at his fathers serious yet teasing tone. With a small sigh, Izuku gulps down his nerves and mumbles, "promise?" "I promise," his father confirms and Izuku's cracked heart warms up and a few smaller cracks seal back up.
"Um... Do you remember when that villian attacked Kacchan and me a little while ago?" Izuku asks to begin his explanation. "Of course I do! I was terrified you had gotten hurt when I got the news!" His father exclaimed full of honesty. "Well, you see..." Words stumbled across Izuku's tongue as he tried to decided how to word his next few sentences. He loved his mother but no matter how he said it in his head, she sounded like a villain. His father patiently waited for his son to pull himself together and encouraged him to take a few deeps breaths to calm down before continuing.
Several calming breaths later, Izuku was ready to continue his story. "The night after the attack, mama told me..." Izuku sniffled as tears began to drop. "She said Wonderland was just in my head... that it's not real..." Izuku tried to say more but his tears were coming down too fast. He forced himself to cry quietly so his mother wouldn't hear but this made it harder to breath. His heart squeezed in the pain of his mothers refusal to believe him and he struggled to hear his father's comforting words. "Bud... I'm so sorry..." Izuku could hear emotion thick in his fathers voice and felt instant regret for upsetting his father. "I'm... I'm so... so sorry..." he blubbered out through his tears and his father instantly cut him off telling him it wasn't his fault.
"Listen to me Izuku, I mean it! You are my son and I know you would never make up or lie about something like this! It is not your fault your mother doesn't believe you and I'm upset at her not you! I love you so much buddy and I believe you! Never forget that! If I could I would wrap you in the biggest hug you've ever had and never let go because of how much I love you! Everything is going to be okay buddy... and that's a heroes promise!" Hisashi
proclaims with emotion still thick in his throat. His heart broke at the sound of his son's tears and hated what the woman he loved had said to his son, their child! A mother was meant to build their child up, not tear them down. Hisashi held the phone away from his face as fire burned from his throat in anger. He told his son a story to help his fall asleep but his anger had now made him slightly lose control over his quirk. He loved being a hero but he hated being away from his family especially at times like these. Working as one of America's top heroes was hard work and unfortunately never left him with many available vacation days. He was ready to go home but he also knew he couldn't just leave America unprotected. It would take a while, maybe even several years, but he would get to hug his son once more and protect him from his wife even if I becomes needed!
