Jisung stopped opening his presents once he heard the thud, looking down at what just happened as Chan crouched down to pick Minho up, checking if he was okay. "Hey, Minho? Are you okay?" Chan wasn't sure what happened and began to panic. Why did he pass out? What happened to the angel that made him pass out? Could angels get ill? Did he die? Chan wasn't sure what was going on. He lifted Minho up bridal style before turning to Jisung. "I'm going to take him. You enjoy your party. I'm sorry this happened but have a good rest of your night!" He gave Jisung a pity smile before running out to his car.
He set Minho down in the passenger seat carefully, buckling him in before running to the other side of the car, jumping in. He began driving home as fast as he safely could. Not even halfway to the house, Minho began to stir in his seat, causing Chan to glance at him every so often to check if he was finally waking up. He fluttered his eyes open, looking through the windshield before turning his attention on Chan, a sly smile making its way on his face.
Chan turned once more to check on him with a worried glance before seeing the grin, which confused him. Minho had just passed out. Why was he smiling? And why did he look so happy? "Are you okay?"
Minho nodded. "Mhm. I'm fine."
"You passed out. What happened? Can angels do that? Did something happen?" Chan asked one question after the other, trying to put the pieces together.
"No. Angels don't pass out. We don't get human illnesses. No celestials do," he explained.
That confused Chan even more. "Then why did you pass out?" He wasn't connecting the dots in his mind, his brain too clouded with worry to think.
"It was fake," the angel spoke nonchalantly. Chan wanted an answer, so he gave one. What he wasn't expecting was Chan's reaction.
"It was fake? What do you mean it was fake?" He basically yelled, sure that people outside of the car could hear him.
"I didn't actually pass out. I just wanted to leave because I didn't like seeing Jisung so close to you," he explained, not sure why Chan seemed so upset. He was still trying to understand human emotions despite being on Earth for a little over a month, so he wasn't quite grasping the concept of deceit.
Chan groaned in frustration, completely rage-filled, and his grip on the steering wheel tightened so his knuckles were white. "Why do you care so fucking much about how close Jisung is with me? That's all you ever talk about is 'why are you two so close' or 'he likes you', like, why do you care? Him liking me has absolutely nothing to do with you."
Minho furrowed his eyebrows together in utter confusion as he blinked rapidly in Chan's direction. He was hurt by Chan's harsh words. With every word Chan spoke, it hurt Minho more and more. He didn't know why it bothered him so much, the way that Chan was speaking to him. He still wasn't able to grasp onto the idea that he liked a human romantically, and now was feeling hurt from his words? What kind of an angel cares about what a human has to say about him? That's pathetic.
"I... I don't know why. I just do. I'm not supposed to. I-I'm not supposed to have these... feelings, but somehow I am, and I don't understand them at all, and I'm really just confused about everything."
Chan huffed before turning his head, suddenly understanding the situation. "You like me, don't you? Like, romantically."
There was something about Chan expressing Minho's feelings for him that made him feel warm inside. At least he didn't have to say it. He nodded his head slowly, not sure what to make of the situation as it lay now.
"I figured."
That was it. That was all he said, but that wasn't all that Minho wanted to know. He mustered up the courage to ask the question he really wanted the answer to. "Well... do you like me?"
