Chapter 27

As I woke up Saturday morning, I rubbed my eyes with my palms. I blinked until my eyes cleared up.

Today was what? Oh my gosh, it's Saturday. Today was the day. My date with Noah!

Immediately, I stretched my hands until I could feel my phone without getting off the bed. I must have slept with it in bed yesterday.

I tapped on the screen and dialed a number. My back lay on the bed and I held the phone above me.

The phone rang until it stopped ringing. I dialed the number again.

"Hello." Julie croaked through the speakers.

"Julie! It's Saturday! Saturday!"

She yawned. "And your point is?"

"Today's my date with Noah. Don't you remember?" I squinted even though she couldn't see me. "Are your sleep neurons messing with your brain?"

She scoffed. "Don't use words you don't understand. And of course I remember. After all you said yesterday, it's probably ingrained in my brain."

"Oh."

"Why are you suddenly quiet? Wait. You're nervous aren't you? Awnnn, my baby's nervous." She barked out a laugh.

"Shut up." I grumbled.

"Don't worry. I'm coming over. After all you already woke me up. What time is your date?" She asked.

What time....? I face palmed.

"Julie, we didn't say anything about the time! Oh my goodness." Am I supposed to call him? Or should I wait? "Should I call to ask?" I started panicking.

"Maybe." She replied lazily.

Just then, an incoming call appeared at the top of my screen.

"Oh he's calling. I don't care what the time is. Get your ass over here. Bye. We'll talk later!"

"Ok." She said as I ended the call.

I quickly answered Noah's call before it stopped ringing. "Hi."

"Hey."

Why did he call me? Should I just use the opportunity to ask for the time?

"Hi." I repeated.

"Hey...um..I just called to say they might be a small change of plans about our date." Was he cancelling?

"Yeah?" I asked resisting the urge to chew on my fingernails.

"I know I asked you out for dinner but I want to do something else. Something fun."

"Oh..of course! I mean...no problem. So what time?"

"Great! Um.... Should I pick you up?"

"Sure." He already knew where I lived.

"Ok..so wear something free and comfortable. Really comfortable ok?"

"Yeah."

"And," he paused. "I can't wait. See you 2pm sharp."

"Of course." I laughed. "Me too." I ended the call and tried to control my smile.

"Alright, I'll be going. Let me know how it goes, ok?" Julie said as she shoved her feets into her slippers.

It was currently 1:45 pm. Julie had come over early in the morning. My parents had found out about the date immediately she came in yelling, "Who's going on a date? Hannah's going on a date!" I would have told them anyways since I can't really keep any secrets from them.
