Tobias POV
I stand in a room with Evelyn. She has been putting me through the simulations all day.
"Well, well. If it isn't the not-so-legendary-anymore-Four. Hi son."
"Shall I call you a dumb-ass? You lost the right to call me your son after you betrayed me! You said you chose me, but you lied! You chose power! You don't love or even care about me at all!" She gives me a death stare. "Let's just get this over with, okay?"
"Fine! But no matter what Tobias, you will always be my son."
{Sadly. :( }
I don't feel the needle go in. I just see everything go dark. I try to walk forward, but I am restrained. I know what is going to happen next. This is my worst fear. Tris will die and there will be nothing I can do to stop it. I see her, beautiful and fair and birdlike. I hear a guard yell at Evelyn to stop, and I wake up before anything bad can happen to Tris.
The guard drags me out of the room and we turn down unfamiliar corridors. We aren't going back to my cell.
"Hey, Mr. Guard Dude! We are going the wrong way!"
"No we are not, sadly." He go into the main entrance, and the first thing I see is a bird with short blond hair.
Beatrice!
Tris POV
I march into the small dome-like building. I rush past the gates and shoot at the guard who tried to stop me. I speed into the open doors and keep going until I hear a click and feel a cold gun barrel pressed up against my back.
"Now was it really necessary to shot one of my high ranked guardsmen?" A males voice, Marcus I assume, tells me.
"I have what you want, what you asked me for."
"How many did you bring?" He asks, and this time he turns so that I can see his face. I am correct. Marcus is holding a gun up at me. But he looks different. He has half of his face covered up in bandages, and they are bleeding through. Then I see Jeanine Matthews. She looks different to. She is in a wheelchair. The only thing that remains the same is that she wears a devilish smile. She will enjoy what happens next. I knew that when I came here I might die in order for Tobias to live. And I'm okay with that, I'm just not okay with her.
"Two." I take out the serums I have in my pocket. The other two are in my shoe, tucked safely inside a small but layered quilt.
I hold them out for Marcus, and Jeanine walks over with a syringe. Marcus is about to take them when I snatch my hands back. "Four first! I'm not stupid, Marcus!"
He looks angry. He never intended to hand Tobias over to me. But he needs the serums more than he does Tobias, so he says "Bring the boy now!"
A minuet later Tobias stands before me. He rushes to my side, and I pull him into my embrace. I plant a kiss on his lips.
"The serum, Beatrice! Now!"
"Don't give him anything, Tris," Tobias whispers.
"I need to," I whisper back and I hand Marcus the serum. He takes one, and injects himself with half and gives the other half to Jeanine. "It'll be okay," I carefully whisper to Tobias.
"We need the other for experimentation, to duplicate more." He says to Jeanine, but mostly for himself.
Marcus unwraps his bandages and I see that the right side of his face is badly burned and bloody. Now I know why he needed that serum.
He smiles at me, along with Jeanine. My plan worked.
"Hello, Beatrice. To what do I owe this simple pleasure of being within your acquaintance?" Marcus asks.
