Lando calls again to say that he'll have two passes ready by the evening.
Seeing how we're close, he wants to go for dinner with him, Jon, me and my sister.
Eve agrees so I get send an address before qualifying starts.

My heart is in my throat the whole time as my eyes stay focused on the papaya car.
His name raising on the time board, till...

"And it's Lando Norris, that takes provisional pole for the first time in his career!"

My breath is stuck in my throat as my smile grows.
'Damn he's quick.' Eve says calmly next to me.
I turn to her and hug her tightly.
'He did it....' I say quietly.

I pull away and laugh.
'He did it, Eve!'

She's a little bit confused with my excitement but soon gets as exited as me.
'He did! He drove so well.' She says. I hold my hands over my mouth and look at his name on P1 once more. 'Unbelievable.' I whisper under my breath.

That evening me and Eve dress up a little and drive to the address.
We're a little late because of traffic, but we arrive.

My eyes immediately land on Lando as he and Jon wait on the busy sidewalk.
I squeeze my sisters arm as I hold it to keep her close to me with the busy traffic and sidewalk.
'I've missed him Eve.' I say. 'Ahw.' She says as she pats my hand.

When we're close enough, they notice us walking up.
'Sorry we're late.' Eve says first. 'No worries.' Jon say back.
I immediately hug Lando 'I'm so proud of you! Congratulations.'
He giggles as he hugs me back even tighter.
'Thank you.'

'My favorite driver on pole tomorrow, I can't believe it.'
I pull back and look at him, his cheeks dusted pink and a bright smile.
'You're favorite?' He asks. I chuckle and nod 'but don't tell the others.

I turn to Jon and briefly hug him as well as Eve shakes Lando's hand.

We head in and I sit down across from Lando.
Eve and Jon hit it off quickly, having their own conversation.
'So how do you feel now that you have to start pole tomorrow?'
Lando meets my eyes and smiles 'I'll never hold it. I'll just try my best and see what happens.'

I nod and look away for a second.
'They'll expect rain tomorrow, but I doubt it'll be during the race.'
Lando's words make me look back up.
'Please be careful if it does rain.'
'Sure.'

The food gets brought and me and Lando fall quiet.
My foot gets tapped under the table by Lando, making me look up.
He nods towards Jon and Eve who are chatting and laughing away.
'Guys, me and Amelia are getting refills at the bar, want something?'
Lando raises to his feet, so I follow.

'They seem to get along.' Lando starts when we're out of ear shot.
I hum and take a glance at the table where they're seated.
'Well she has a boyfriend she doesn't get along with.'
Lando looks at me 'She's in a relationship?'
I nod 'yeah, a unhappy one.'

We reach the bar and Lando orders for him and Jon as I order for me and Eve. We stand close next to one another as we wait in silence. It's calm like this, close to him. The drinks get put down in front of us, so I pick them up and turn to walk back to the table, but Lando's hand stops me.

'Can I take to some of the next races?'

I meet his blue eyes.
'I wish you could, but I have to work.'
His expression stays the same.
'Take weekends off.'

'Lando, you head to the country you have to drive in on Monday.'
He looks at the drinks in his hands 'I know, but maybe you could fly out later and join?'
I clench my jaw 'I don't know.... I wish I cloud.'

'Then... then how about you come over to England, when I'm home.'
His eyes look up to meet mine again. 'It's a lot less far.'

I chuckle 'that's true.'
