Circa 1953. The Hart Cottage.
ELEANOR CAN HEAR THE HARSH WHISPERS THAT HER MOTHER AND GODFATHER WERE SAYING IN THE KITCHEN. She was confused about why she was there and had just fallen asleep in her bedroom in the Diggory house.
She was atop the stairs in her old house. She could see the peek of light coming from her old bedroom. She walked down the stairs, forgetting about the creek on the floorboard.
Their whispers were hushed as she spotted her mother rounding the corner, and Eleanor held her breath seeing her again. Emma could've easily spotted her at the stairs but saw nothing.
Eleanor could barely remember what her mother looked like wanting to forget those memories. She wore a pale purple dress with a satin ribbon tied to her waist. Her hair was curled in big bouncy curls.
"Emma, I don't think you realized what you're doing allowing that man back into this house. With Eleanor here," Abraxas said angrily. She can imagine the vein pulsing out of his forehead as he spoke. "We already went through this. He's not a good man; he's played you for a fool."
Emma looked up from her Daily Prophet. "And yet you still allowed that wedding to happen, Abraxas," she snarled as she stood up from her chair, allowing the legs to scratch the wooden floor as she slammed the paper onto the table with a smack. "Don't come into my house telling me I'm the fool. You knew very well I was under the effects of an obliviation spell that, thankfully, when I became pregnant, the spell broke because of Eleanor. Eleanor is special. That little girl will have such a vast amount of power in her magic if Tom knew about it. I have to protect her, and if he knew what I know right now, I might as well be dead," Emma told him
"How are you protecting her if he's living here?" Abraxas questioned. Emma sighed rubbing the creases in her forehead. "You won't understand. It's far too complicated. Besides, I can't trust you with this information; are you forgetting he is your "Lord."
Abraxas pointed a finger. "I would never do anything to jeopardize Eleanor's safety. Whether you like it or not, I helped raise her, and I see her as a child of my own."
Emma shook her. "I still can't tell you, just trust me in what I have planned."
Abraxas shook his head in disbelief. "I can't believe you're letting him play dad. HE LEFT YOU, HE OBLIVATED YOU, HE HURT YOU, EMMA, AND NOW HE WANTS TO COME BACK. ITS BEEN 8 YEARS"
Emma smacked the newspaper into his chest "will you be quiet? Ellie is just upstairs. Regardless of what he did to me, he is still Eleanor's father. Believe me, I rather he not be, but he is. I want her to at least have one good memory of him, even if it's all pretend she won't know."
She sat back in her chair, Abraxas doing the same across from her. "The other day Tom was working late doing merlin knows what. He doesn't know I know this, but she woke up in the middle of the night with a fever. I watched from the top of the stairs, and he took care of her. He actually cared. He didn't wake me and pass her to me. He didn't do any of that, she laid next to him on the couch, and I swear he didn't take his eyes off her. I started to think that maybe the Horcruxes aren't working. Maybe he got rid of them, and that's why he came back, but I don't know. For once I'm clueless. So I need you to tell me Brax because you're the only one I know he would tell."
