WHEN CASSIDY RETURNED HOME SHE HONESTLY FELT THE LIFE SUCKED OUT OF HER. She dropped her bag at her feet as her hand held on to the doorknob just in case she needed to make a quick run for it.
Her eyes went to the dark hallway, the single light in the ceiling illuminating the space, it was quiet. She knew her parents weren't home. She closed the door with a snap and their house elf Bucky made an appearance.
"Hello Bucky"
The elf wearing a sheet for clothing looked up "Hello miss. Cassidy I will take your bags" he said reaching for the handle"
"That's alright Bucky" she stopped him "Are my parent's home?" she asked him
"In the dining room Miss'' he said as he led her there as if she had probably forgotten. The House hadn't changed, it was its still plain walls and plain furniture. As they got closer Cassidy heard the roar of laughter. Her brows furrowed in confusion and as she turned the corner she saw three people seated at the table her father at the head Dominick Gavin a rather muscular and tall mall, a chiseled face. He wore a white dress shirt with regular black pants. Her mother next to him, Theresa Gavin, a smaller woman with her curly hair done up in a braided bun on the top of her head, her lips painted with burgundy lipstick. And then her older brother Jacob Gavin who she hadn't seen in almost 4 years who worked in the states.
Cassidy dropped her bag in shock her eyes widened "What the fu-" she started to say but her mother put her hand up to stop her "Language" she warned
Cassidy nodded sarcastically "Oh I'm sorry Whom the fuck?, what are you doing here Jacob?!" she shouted
Jacob stood up from his seat "Mum and dad told me how much you missed me so I decided to come home, managed to get a bit of time off"
Cassidy raised her eyebrow to her parents "Don't know how they could tell you that. They never wrote me a single letter when I'm at school since I got sorted into Slytherin."
"Cassiopeia please" Theresa pleaded with her only daughter "What! you don't what your perfect son to hear about the negligence that I've received over the past few years so he can finally see how fucked up this family really is" She said as she pointed towards Jacob who had a beaten look on his face
"Jacob if you ever want to hear the truth about these two I'll be in my bedroom till Christmas Eve where my friends are coming over for dinner because I can't stand being alone with those two"
Bucky the house elf stood in the corner of the room hovering as he watched Cassidy stalk up the wooden staircase up to her bedroom where he followed her with her suitcases floating behind him.
Theresa Gavin craned her neck and placed both palms on the table as if she was going to follow her daughter but her husband stopped her with a firm shake of his head.
"Is it true?" Jacob asked his eyes gleaming over his parents, "Is what true?" Dominic asked
"That you two havent bothered to write to her because she's a Slytherin?" he asked
The two parents looked at each other and then back at their oldest son "You know the high demand of our job Jacob, we don't have time to write" Theresa claimed
Jacob scoffed and stood up "I do know the high demand for our jobs, but you were able to write to me since I left so what does that say? Honestly get over yourselves, not everyone in Slytherin is evil, you are forgetting that the man that taught you potions in Hogwarts was in Slytherin and is a good man. You act as if she's You-Know-Who herself when she's just a child who needs her parents"
His boots clanked with the hard wood floors as she followed his sister up the stairs. His face turned to surprise when he spotted Cassidy sitting at the top staircase hearing every single word. She didn't say anything as she stood up and turned away from him and into her bedroom. If there was one thing Cassidy hated anything more in the world it was pity.

Eleanor looked at her appearance in the mirror, she noticed everyday she was growing into features and looked more and more like her mother. "You look nice, where are you off to?" Cedric asked entering her bedroom sitting on her bed
Eleanor startled and cleared her throat "Dinner with Cassidy's family, should be fun" she said as she placed her earrings in her jewelry box.
Cedric stood up grabbing the box and shuffling through it "Oh gonna leave me to entertain the old people by myself that's not very nice" he said jokingly as he picked up a beaded bracelet "I've never seen this before" he said as he lifted it up
Eleanor looked up from her mirror seeing the bracelet in his hand, she felt a log in her throat as she recognized it. She had made it for her mother when she was very young, her mother gave it back to her as a goodbye gift.
"It was my mother's, I don't wear it cause I'm afraid I'll lose it." she said as she took it from his hands admiring her young self creativity.
"You never talk about her." he said "Do you not remember her?"
To be honest Eleanor barely remembered her childhood, her mother's face fading from her memory along with the rest of relatives.
"I remember some things, not a lot. I don't talk about her because there's nothing to tell. I didn't know much of her, I was too young, she was a young single witch who got too expressive with her magic and set the house ablaze with me in it. So, that is all I remember, everything before the fire is a forgotten memory. Things do come back in flashes though. while i'm sleeping. Think it's my brain telling me that my life was a lot different before you and mum and dad came into it" Eleanor says, she placed the bracelet on her wrist feeling the familiarity of the colorful beads on her wrist
"I'm sorry i didn't ask you about her sooner, perhaps you would remember her better"
Eleanor shook her head and forced a smile in her face "that's alright, not your fault. From what i can remember from her is that she was good mother, she would've liked you"
Cedric smiled and patted his sister's shoulder comfortingly.
"Well you must be going, don't be late for pudding tonight"
Eleanor nodded "wouldn't miss for the world" she said as Cedric made his way out of her bedroom
Eleanor then whispered quietly to herself "a good mother that kept her secrets."
