(8) Plans and Regrets

Third person Pov

Anne stared at the box as she held it with one hand and the other holding the unconscious girl's hand beside her. At this point Anne didn't know what to do anymore. She wanted to go back home to her world yet stay and help the king with the toad situation.

She thought that it was going to be easy now that she arrived to newtopia, but it got more complicated than being stuck in a forest all alone. Anne sighed and wondered what made the three toad leader's go against the king of amphibia.

The king never explained what the plan was to them and it caused Anne to be curious of what it was all about. She let go of Marcy's hand and kissed her forehead before standing up and leaving the room to investigate for herself.

Anne's Pov

As I got closer to the throne room, I heard some voices inside and took a little peek through the door and saw general Yunnan and the king talking about something. I could barely hear them but I did hear the king saying something about the toads.

"My lord, don't you think we should-,"

"My order is final Yunnan, if the toads are going to fight us, then so be it. Gather the army and be on your way. Also, if you happen to find Sasha along the way, bring her back here and we'll discuss things from there" he said.

Yunnan seemed worried and bowed her head before leaving and I quickly hid myself before she could see me. Once she was out of my sight, I looked at Andrias inside who looked stressed about something given by his facial expression.

Walking inside the room, he noticed my presence and changed his face with a smile. I bowed to him before asking if everything was okay. He gave me a nod and I went along with it and continued to ask about the toads.

"I've been wondering about this since the battle a few hours ago but what was this plan you had that made them go against you for it?"

"Well, you see... it's complicating. The plan I suggested in the meeting was about using the box in your possession to explore the different worlds. They thought of it the wrong way and disagreed to my plans and started threatening me to forget it" he answered.

He continued to tell me more about it until I finally understood why the toads went against him. You know, exploring different other worlds doesn't sound as bad as it is. As long as it's not a plan to invade them, then it should be fine to use the box for exploration.

Then the king led me to his archives and I was amazed of many books were in the room that contained knowledge from the past. Marcy really wasn't kidding when Newtopia was full of history and lores.

Andrias grabbed a giant book from the shelf and opened it, revealing the box and three coloured gems inside.

"The box you have is called the 'calamity box', the most powerful object that you can find in our world. It says that those who possess it will become the most strongest, the most feared, the most powerful being in all of the universe" he said.

"So, you've read this book even before me and Marcy arrived to newtopia?" I asked.

He nodded his head and told me that when Marcy sent a letter to him about us, she also gave him the info of the music box being held in my possession and that was when he suggested his plan to the other toad lords.

"You see, my ancestors were explorers and loved visiting the other worlds to make peace between our realms. But when the box disappeared from my hands, I thought I had lost everything that my ancestors worked hard for. But now that it's back and in your hands, I can finally fulfil what I was born to do and continue the legacy of my past ancestors will"

The look on his face gave me a weird feeling of insecurity but it later changed when he told me that I should go and check up on Marcy if she was awake. I nodded my head before leaving the room with an ominous feeling in my chest.

I just hope I'm not mistaking king andrias for something else.

King Andrias's Pov

Once the human left my sight, I looked over to the wall and pressed a secret button under the banner. The door towards the basement opened up and I grabbed a torch on the wall before making my way down the stairs.

Soon after I arrived, I took off my crown and knelt down on my knees before my lord opened their eyes and stared at me.

"My lord, the two girls are ever getting close to finding out what our true intentions are. I am very worried that they might involve Marcy into this and I don't want her to be a part of our plans, what shall we do about it?" I asked.

"Anne boonchuy possesses the power of the heart and Sasha Waybright possesses the power of strength. You mustn't let your daughter help them no matter the cost. If the wit joins them, then the prophecy will be done and everything your ancestors and I have worked hard for will be lost, all because of YOU"

I clenched my fists together and told them that I would do anything to prevent marcy from joining their side no matter how much it will hurt her to know that I was planning all of this behind their back.

Looking at the core, I asked what we shall do about the host they've been wanting for, for years. They took a moment to think before telling me that they wanted the most strongest being I could ever find in amphibia. I thought about it and suddenly Anne popped inside my head and suggested it to my lord that she would make the perfect host for them.

If you think that she's the strongest, then bring her to the chambers and we'll start the process from there"

I bowed to the core before they closed their eyes before I left the basement with the thought of sacrificing Anne.

By olms, everything is already as complicated as it is... sacrificing the human girl would break Marcy's heart and she'll turn against me no matter how much I try to convince her that this was all for her and my ancestors.

The door closed up behind me and I sighed as I looked over at the pictures of my old friends and Marcy when she was six years old.

Who would've thought I was going to lose the most important person in my life, all because of this plan that my lord has set out for me to do.

My two friends left me all because the plan to invade the worlds was bad as well.

I didn't listen to them and did it anyways, but because of that, one of my friends stole the box and we lost everything after it disappeared.

I isolated myself from my people and never showed my face ever again for many months, until I came across a human child, so different yet the same like us in every other way.

I placed her under my wing and later she became the only important person I cared about very dearly. I took care of her as if she was my own and later adopted her and became my daughter. If there was one thing that I could do for myself, it would be to sacrifice my life just to see her live another day.

Because in this world or any other world... as long as Marcy is alive, then I am glad I got the opportunity to be the father figure that she couldn't have in amphibia.

The thought of andrias's character for my story was complicating at the start. I didn't know what I wanted to do with his character and decided to change a little bit about him in my book.

(Though he still is pretty similar to the canon one)
