"Jungkook, are you sure you don't want to exchange your posting with mine?"

Hobi asked for the last time and saw the boy nod slightly.

Jungkook was assigned to check on the new murder case along with Jin. And knowing the fact that they did speak to each other Hobi thought for offering a helping hand.

"I'll be fine Hobi. Thanks for asking-"

He gave Hobi a genuine smile before getting in the police van.

A few minutes later, Jin barged out of his cabin and hopped in the driver seat, with Jungkook staring outside the window beside him.

Jin let out a sigh as he glanced over at Jungkook before he looked back at the road and drove off.

The drive was quite.

No one spoke a word and it seemed like the decisions Jungkook had made to speak up with Jin would turn out to be just a false promise to Jimin.

Since the murder case was located in the countryside, it took them a while to drive to the crime scene.

With other officers and forensics already present at the crime scene, it wasn't much of a rush for them to reach them anyway.

Jin just had to check a few things before the crime scene got wrapped up.

Jungkook peeked outside, staring at the tall trees that appeared blurring out with the movement of their vehicle. The bright blue sky above it with fading white clouds looking like soft cotton candies.

He rolled the glass down before he shut his eyes, feeling the chill breeze hit his face. He took a deep breath and smiled to himself, recalling the moment when he went out for bike rides with Jin and Tae back then when they were kids.

Since, Tae was older would ride alone but small Jungkookie used to climb behind his Jin hyung, always looking so excited for the bike ride.

The way he would clutch onto the elder's shirt as they rode along the countryside, with the wind hitting their faces and the enormous space of blue hue above their heads.

The way they would chuckle and play along the way, stopping in between for ice-cream treats and snacks. Getting scolded for picking up pretty flowers on the way and rushing up to their bike again, giggling to themselves.

It felt similar.

Except Tae wasn't here and they weren't smiling at each other. Moreover, they didn't even look at each other.

Where did we go wrong, hyung?

Jungkook's thoughts were cut off when their van started to slow down. Jungkook looked over at Jin who seemed pretty confused as him.

And eventually, the van stopped on the middle of the highway.

Both the boys looked at each other for a while and looked back at road again.

"Ughh now what-" Jin grumbled and got out of the car, reaching to the front of the car to check the problem.

He opened the bonnet and a gush of black smoke was seen, Jin coughing vigorously as he fist his hand near his mouth.

He waited for the smoke to pass out, and tried to check the engine until he saw Jungkook walk behind him.

"How's it?"

Jungkook asked with a little shyness in his vocals.

"Pretty bad," Jin replied before he slammed the bonnet down.

"What do you mean? We won't make it?" Jungkook asked as he watched Jin walk back inside the car.

"I don't think so. I'll let the others know. Officer Min and Officer Choi are on the way. They might be here any moment. Just gotta wait a little"
